Well as I idle away the days awaiting my GTS via enclosed trailer, the last 3 days has cropped up a serious addiction: bidding on Viper ebay items........

Rims, parts of frames, keys, floormats, and various other junk to store in the garage, regardless, I need some help on the shop manual:

The car is a 1997 GTS, the shop manual for 1997 covers both 1997 GTS and RT/10. The 1996 manual offered on ebay appears to be 1996 GTS only. Would the 1996 manual be a better buy for my 1997 as it may contain GTS specific info? I recall that in 1996 some parts didn't have part numbers, and that by 1997 things had settled down and may be a more complete manual.

Or maybe I should wait for the car and enjoy it, as opposed to buying items to fix it before it's broke???

Ryan, definitely get the 97 manual. From what I hear the 96 manual for the GTS was missing some things and just plain wrong in some cases. I have a 96 GTS, but bought the 97 manual for that reason.

I have the 1996 GTS manual and the 1998 RT / GTS manual (amongst many others).

I usually use the 1998 one for my 1996 because of the error rumors, and the cross reference it to the 1996. So far, I've never found an error in the 1996 version.

They also publish Technical Manual Revisions periodically which fix any known errors.

Bottom line, I'd use the like year manual for your car.

thanks guys, I'm high bidder on a 1997 manual, of course by the time the auction is over, my bid price will equal the cost of every manual from 1992 to present shrink wrapped from the dealer, funny how that works out...........

Don't know what you are paying ,but we can sell you one at cost ( $77 ) if you just ask for Nancy Shanno and tell her you are a VCA member.
