I am new to the board, its great to be here.
I have a question, my 97 GTS has painted silver wheels, Earnies alloys in Miami
has a polished set for $1000.00 plus my painted wheels. I have delt with him 1 time before and was happy with the deal. He said thet the painted wheels are cast and the polished wheels are forged, does that sound right? Are there any mechanical pro's or con's on swapping them out.
Thanks.

Look on the inside of the rim for 97F stamped into the rim. This indicates that the rim is forged and NOT cast. They had both in 97 and you will want the forged if at all possible.........Kurt

My .02--- I had a street rod with many polished parts. Unless you enjoy rubbing the hell outa them-- go with chrome. John

Some of the early '97s came with leftover '96 cast/welded rims. You can easily tell by looking or feeling right behind the smooth face between the "bumps" for a weld bead the entire circumference of the rim. Forged rims are totally smooth in that area.
