I am so dang ********** right now. I was driving at lease 200 plus feet back and this semi (Panhandle in Butler, GA) shot rocks from his bed and made 2 nice cracks on my windshield.

I have a witness too cause her car was hit too and had a crack windshield from this trucking company.

Has anyone had luck going after these careless companies?

I am so sick of people not being careful of other people's property! To hell with SUV's and Semi's and all rock throwing vehicles!

Adam......... I'm on my own3rd Viper windshield. Its an easy replacement, but sometimes hard to find the glass! We have helped 3 dealers/victims this year GET glass fast.....even hard-to find RT/10 rears.....We did some creative billing to assis w/ the deductible.

If you get in a jam, the LIST price of the GTS windscreen is $1198, but even your insurance company may want to hear the PartsRack bid: ~60%+ off..... It might help pay your deductible.

That's why I always try to get out in front of traffic. It ****** some people off but they can kiss my butt. I'm not gonna let my Viper get trashed. Besides, I don't cut anybody off when I do it.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Adam. Hey, at least your getting your Partsrack wing soon aren't you?

Yep, the parts rack wing is on it's way. I can't wait, but i feel my Viper is tainted now! Grr!

I did some research this morning on this semi truck and come to find out they were only licensed to drive in the state of GA on the intrastates.not in Birmingham, AL!! The Dept of transportation wants me to file a complaint against this company.

I contacted the company and they want to work with me. They were somewhat nervous about the DOT doing an investagation. We will see what happens. The good thing about it, I had a witness who's car was also hit by the rocks.

Jon, I will call you incase we have a hard time locating a windshield.

One of several reasons why I always carry my digital camera with me. I had one uncovered Pennsylvania dump truck dump a rock on my windshield. I took photos of him from behind and as I passed, including the name and number on the door. Maryland has a 'covered load' law. I called them and they were more than interested in taking care of the windshield asap as I had photos of them not covered, etc. Plus they did not want an insurance claim on them.
What a royal pain! Now I take great care not to stay behind most open bed trucks.
Good luck !

I also try my best to stay away from the "Rock Kickers" = The trucks that are usually pulling dual coverless gravel bins. But no matter what I do, these trucks are notorious for putting rock chips all over the front of my cars. We can put a man on the moon, but not design a transport that can carry rocks without dumping 10% of the load en route to their destination - sheesh! I've even tried shielding my car with other cars by going two lanes over and staying at an angle, but as George Castanza would say, "I get screwed every time."

I have a crack in my BMW 850i, and I need to change it. The state of FL replaces the first shield for free, then the next one you pay. Those **** trucks are a menace to the entire street! My front end on my 850i is speckled with little white dots due to missing paint. That is why I always pass everyone!

Just finished putting in a new windshield on my new E55 and need the hood and front end repainted. Got another chip on the Viper on the way back from Laguna Seca yesterday.

Have been pummelled with sand, rocks and metal falling off trucks on the 605 FWY in LA daily; sometimes so bad that it sounds like rain on the windshield. The CHP only seems to care if you exceed the speed limit and not that trucks dumping debris pose more of a safety hazard. Anyone with ideas to increase enforcement should post so we can improve this situation.
