Will it hurt anything if water gets into any of the air intakes on the hood?

No, happens to mine all the time. I just dry the top of the inside of the heater box (under RH vent) when I'm drying the rest of the car. The vent on the driver side is fake anyway (as in, it isn't even cut out in the hood, atleast on my car)

Hadn't thought of the leaf blower for the left side. Great idea.

You need it for the whole car. The side mirriors and tail lights hold water like crazy!

Fastest way to dry, if you keep a good coat of wax on it.

Less chance of towels marks, like they leave you at the dealership! :(

Okay, I already spent $350 bucks on a Porter Cable detailing kit today. May as well drop a few more greenbacks on a leaf blower! :D

Just spray the hood down from the windshield to the front and no water will get in there. Stuff a towell in there if you are worried. Stuff wash rags in the rear vents for sure 'cause you don't want water getting in those and they are harder to avoid with the spray.

By the rear vents do you mean the ones with the black mesh?

He means the vents into the trunk. If you spray water up into the rear "gill slits" by the tail lights, the water can spray up past the vent flaps onto the inside of your trunk. To see what he's talking about, pull the carpet away from the rear corners of the trunk and you'll see the vents from the inside.

Unless your car is really dirty from getting caught in the rain or traveling on an upaved road, no need to even get it wet. I have been using the following method for years without any problems with fellow Viper owners in the club always asking, how do I get my car so shiney? Assuming you have a good base wax/polish on the car, do the following:
1. Use a California Duster type mop to remove all of the top dust.
2. Use a good detailer spray (I use Mothers "Show Time". This step only needs to be done every 3-4 time.
3. Your done in half the time with a show quality shine.

One word of caution about leave blowers.

Use an electric leaf blower. The gas ones emit the exhaust into the airstream, which could get oil on your paint.

Yes, but you have little or no wax on the car, since you don't mention reapplying any wax. Can't see how that is a good thing.

Doesn't it RAIN in Colorado ??? :bonker:

Yes, in fact it does. ;) The reason I asked is that the day after I washed my car for the first time the check engine light came on. Hasn't been driven more than fifty miles since I got it, 7700 miles total, etc... So I was worried maybe I missed that little spot in the manual where it says, "Water entering right rear air intake will cause your new V-10 to immediately self-destruct." Just a little worried is all.

But, since you asked, it doesn't rain all that much down here in Pueblo, CO. It's desert, dry and hot!

As far as wax on this car goes, I think the previous owner spent way more time waxing than driving! Man this thing has a finish on it.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I've had a LOT of good luck with the Mr. Clean auto dry car wash kit. It dries the car off in minutes with NO towels and leaves NO watermarks.

Then hit it with some wax after your done.
