Anyone have a detailed spec for the 2001 ACR?

I found this in my meanderings, but threads here point to differences in the shocks/suspension for different years. Anyone have details? I would be curious to know spring rates as well.

Thanks,
Eric

Thanks Jon, and that's quite a difference. Do you have any discussion on the motivation for change? Was this a racing team input? Did they change the shock at the same time?

Thanks,
Eric

Loaded question Eric!

Do some searches on the Koni rattler shock controversy.

P.S. Get that oil changed yet?

ACR Autopia:

Interesting reading, thanks for the tip. The takeaway seems to be the Dynamic Systems shocks use a high spring rate to compensate for under-performance, true?

My plans are not to drive the car on the edge. But I do enjoy opentrack events maybe half a dozen times a year. At the same time I would like to have a reasonable ride quality when I drive the car on the street.

The rear springs seem pretty taught -- there is one freeway dip in my area in which I can hit my head on the roof with no effort -- I'm talking not exceeding the posted limit. There is also a pretty persistent rebound bounce.

So what are folks doing about it? Living with it? Some guys are happy with the ride, others are rationalizing it -- but that doesn't sound right for a $90K car. Anyone with DSI shocks tried lower rear spring rates? I'd be interested in hearing your results

On the oil change -- no, but filter and oil are awaiting my attention in the garage, I won't be driving it until I can get to the change after xmas. Any tips for oil changing I should be aware of? Thanks,

Eric
