I have a set of 18X13, near mint (no curb rash) ACR wheels with BFG g-Force Drag Radials for sale soon. I'm clearing out parts to make room and raise money for a restoration project. What are they worth? I made 4-6 runs on these tires and they are almost new.

Ok guys here's the deal. I just got these wheels out to carefully inspect them and they are indeed mint with no marks. I bought them as NOS from JonB last year at $1100 per wheel. I sent one back because even though it was brand new, it didn't travel well and had some marks. Jon, being the stand up guy that he is, returned my money for this wheel. A week later one rear ACR popped up on the VCA classifieds for $750. I bought it. It was and is as nice as the brand new one.

The drag radials cost me about $600 and they're virtually new. So I have over $2400 in the wheels/tires. I'm thinking of $1800 for the wheels/tires. I won't be able to ship for a few days or so since I've got to construct a box for the carbon fiber cowl I just sold. Plus I threw away the boxes that the wheels came in. Never thought I'd sell them but the Avanti R2 awaits. Anybody know what that is?

I would say about $2000-2500 based on Ebay prices these have been going for.

Cool Russ, you buy them. I sure as HELL have never seen TWO rear ACR wheels sell for 2k-2500. I have a feeling you THINK he is talking about a full set.

Jon (AN ACR OWNER)

I believe you are correct, the sets of 4 are going for $3000+/- on Ebay. Surely not for 3 rears though!

All of the ACR wheels I saw on ebay sold for about 4k.

Now considering that they are no longer made, and not available for anything short of 2k a wheel from people like parts rack, my estimate is very fair.

No one that has a complete set will be willing to split it up to sell 2 rears only. Here is the perfect chance for someone that needs/wants 2 rears.

PS anyone that wants to sell a set of ACR wheels in good shape for 3k please let me know I am starting a collection.

The drag radials are worthless to the majority here - you figure it'll cost money to have them removed and more money to buy pilots, theres a cool grand right there. So for $2800 I can have two rears for my street car - way too high.

Also the BBS LM versions are still being made.

Russ - a full set of wheels with tires average about $3k, only the N.O.S. sets are going for $4k+

I personally wouldn't pay over $1100 for 2 rears w/o tires but you might find someone looking for specifically what you want.

The only reason you wouldn't pay $1100 for 2 rears is you don't want them.
If you take your time and put together 2 fronts for another $1100, then you have a 4k set for $2200!

The BBS LM wheels are NOT 1 piece wheels like the OEM BBS ACR wheels! They also have a other differences, in style and color.

Oh, my offer of $1300 still stands! :D

According to your post a set should cost 3k, unless it is yours then they should cost $4500?

Besides chroming these wheels is a crime and makes them absolutly worthless in my eyes. The whole reason get these wheels is because of the weight by chroming them you add 5 and probably closer to 10lb's per wheel.

Actually I am planning on a getting a set if I don't come across a VR1 deal I cannot refuse. The cheapest I've seen recently on ebay was $3200 with new tires. Under your logic to do better you'd have to get a complete set of tires for under $1000 shipped. I'm budegting $1000 (500/e) for bare fronts, $1100 for rears, and $1200 for mounted tires = $3300 total - a reasonable amount to me. If you're willing to pay more then you win and I lose, but I don't see $1800 w/drags as discount shopping considering the market. At that price his only hope of a quick sell is finding someone looking specifically for pretty drag wheels.

I think Brian nailed it. Selling ACR rear wheels with DRs is probably not a selling point. If you're seriously into dragging, ACR wheels are not the way to go unless you already have ACR wheels and care about looking good even on the way to the track. And they are pretty and relatively lightweight.

I never said I'm asking $1800 for the pair unless that's we're they're going for. That was the reason for my post - to get a sense of what they're worth. A few of you made me an offer and I'll wait for your response since you were first. If no takers then I'll offer them in this post. I'm not running a Viper parts museum.

BTW, no one knows what an Avanti R2 is? Either you missed it or I'm showing my age!

Where did this number come from? 5-10lbs per wheel!?

I've had mine chromed too. And what a difference! My appraisal guy said they are worth twice as much now!! :p

hahah.. uh no...

2 things:
1. Russ missed the joke, I'm telling you that a full set of ACR rims should go for about 3500-4000 LIKE NEW, regardless of tires or not. Chromed ones should bring another 500-1000.. for a total of 4000-4500 ideally. But if he is all about trying to pay top dollar for a set of rims, thats where I offer mine up for $4500 (which honestly are not for sale, because I love them).

2. His numbers are off a bit, but to help those who are interested, croming adds 5 lbs up front, and 8 lbs rear, at least MINE did, as I weighed mine before they left and after they returned.

I still think Russ should buy those rims.. so this post will die :)

I've never been a big fans of Studebakers, but the Avanti R2 is a classic. A funny looking car though... :2tu:

Exactly! In 1963 the Studebaker Avanti set the speed record for the fastest PRODUCTION car in the world at 176 MPH. This is going to be my next restoration project.

Sorry you don't win the wheels - Casey's getting them - nice try though!

That would be the Avanti II made by the Avanti Motor Corporation out of South Bend, IN. Exact same fiberglass body (the founder of the company bought the rights of the body shells from Studebaker) with a Chevy 350 CI power plant. I think the company is still around only now they use Monte Carlo chassis and GM 427's.

I'm in the process of buying the supercharged version and have to figure out where I'm going to keep my 4th car.
