Which is better? AEM or VEC II or VEC III? I've read some pros's and cons on the VEC II but not on the others.
Sorry if this has been recently discussed, I am having trouble with the search

It all depends how crazy you want to get. The AEM is pretty extensive and i would highly suggest it for any turbo application. For the basic bolt-on's, even a SC system the Vec II/III can get the job done fine with a lot less things to screw up. :)

The main thing to remember is that the AEM is a complete engine management (computer) replacement and the Vec is a piggy back system still utilizing a majority of stock controls and systems. The other difference is a $2,000+ price difference. :)

Roe S/C with 6 1/2 lb pulley. headers/full exhaust with hi-flo cats

The Roe kit comes with the Vec System. Its proven and works GREAT!
I dont think you would find gains (if any) with the AEM. They essentially do the same thing but the AEm lets you control more.

VEC, but having said that, you will need a good OBD interface and wideband as well.

AEM if i were to do it all over again. just seems like most tuners know the AEM and no one knows the VEC2 except for actual viper tuners (actual they didnt even get it except for ROE). Plus with AEM you are not trying to fool the stock PCM. price for AEM around $2500.

Can the AEM be completely set up by a total tuning novice? The VEC can be. I'm living proof. That, and the price tag, would have the VEC winning for me.

Extensive tuning skills, need of absolute max power per set up, no desire to tune your own car, and deeper pockets would probably favor the AEM.

Nope. it isn't a novice tool.

to the question about cost: call any NOPI in the phone book and give them the viper AEM part #. it will be under 2500.

good luck!
