I am wanting to take out $85k in coverage on my 06 SRT. Who would be the best to go with? I live in TN obviously. One ticket 5 yrs ago. 32 yrs old, married.

Haggarty (sp?) Be sure you have another daily driver, this cannot be your primary car, and no driving it to work. other than that, just about anything goes. Don't mention the ticket, after 5 years it won't likely show up anyway. Good luck.

Not sure about there but 5 years is definitely the cutoff in Ohio. Hagerty is the ol'e standard!

Usually you have to send pictures and proof that the car is worth the amount you want covered. I deal with Leland West, and have an agreed policy on my 09. 6000 miles a year, must have a daily driver.

Also try American Collectible and Grundy. Most "value based policy" will also require you to sign a "no minor / under 21" driver waver. That said, I am not sure would anyone give you a policy for $85k for a 06. Eventhough it is value base, they still have guide lines. Good luck.

I just called Hagerty a few days ago and they wanted to know if my car was stock or modified. My car is close to stock other than wheels and other minor mods, so I wonder if they would insure a supercharged car. The guy from Hagerty told me that they have strict rules on Vipers now due to the large amount of claims that they have had. I know one for sure is the amount of miles. He gave me the example of mileage being very limited on the Viper, but could put just about as much miles as I wanted on my 1957 BMW (The Viper and BMW each insured for the same amount).

After talking to haggerty I went with Grundy. Pics sent with appraisal. 85G on an 01 gts. GTS Bruce
where did you get an appraisal? my nationwide agent also handles grundy and she is supposedly working on getting the policy issued, but she never mentioned an appraisal. she did need photos and proof of ownership (registration).

I don't think that you are required to have an appraisal with most collector insurance "Agreed Value" policies. I do NOT have appraisals on the cars that I have insured with Grundy.

If you aren't comfortable with coming up with a number yourself, you might choose to get an appraisal just so that you have a professional input on what your car is worth .

thanks for your response. I am fine with 85k, I came up with that using what I believe to be the market value for the car, and adding the mods to it. (I figure it's worth 55-60 stock). I know it won't bring anything close to 85k, but if it's totaled I'd like to get what it would cost to fully replace including mods.

I guess it's just a slow process getting the coverage issued. It is covered under my other cars insurance with Nationwide until the Grundy is effective according to the agent.

I have used Grundy for years, and when I totalled a 2006 Viper they paid in full, plus all of the extras...very easy to deal with and their rates are great.

Ditto (except the part about totalling a Viper)...

Did you check with Nationwide? If so what did they tell you in regards to agreed value? Curious since I currently insure with Nationwide. They fully covered my former Viper with zero problems (not agreed value).
