Hi gang,

Looking to buy a mint 1993 Viper but it does not have Air conditioning. I live in Fl. Is That something possible to do without a huge hassle or am I just playing with myself. I have a good local A/C guy to install if I can get the kit or parts that are required. As always thank you very much for your input.

Hi Bill. I have a mint 1993 Antenna car with AC. 12,850 miles. I live in Florida. Text me if interested at 561-714-7170 and we can start a conversation.

Mopar made provisions for A/C. They were just waiting for the industry to decide on which refrigerant would be the new standard. There should be parts out there from Viper recyclers. Just gotta dig.

Due to the *very* windy cockpit of such an open vehicle (and the puzzling placement of the factory dashboard vents in Gen1 RTs), it's hard to keep the cold air inside the vehicle. With the top attached, and the side-curtains locked-in, it is barely effective - at that point there's a lot of heat that makes its way through the firewall, roasting your feet.

The only good part about the factory A/C in Gen1/2 cars is the tiny A/C vent under the steering wheel, that blows right between the legs. They could've made that bigger. I wouldn't expect stellar results with a by-the-book factory install... maybe your A/C guy could figure out how to route the cold air more effectively. Sounds like a fun project.

Prowler, those factory kits are long gone. You'll have to find in the wrecking yard all the parts. Plenty of salvage '94's-95's to choose from. See the note from Mister XR above about effectiveness. I've got a '94 with working A/C, you need to have the roof on and all windows on the car and the A/C is mediocre at full blast. Good luck, Mike

Put the kit on my '93 ... it was better than not having it ... also, it was a fun kit to install ... you need the whole HVAC unit from under the dash.

I did a lot of research about 10 years ago. The majority of the parts are available but some are almost impossible to get. Mine was a non AC car and I found out that under the dash it is made different for AC cars. You are better off buying an AC car. If his is an antenna car it would make it more collectable from viper Pete. I live up North so I can get by without air. You can stoop some of the heat by putting extra padding (Sound deadening) which stops some of the heat coming into the interior. I also rapped the exhaust with airplane wrap to make it cooler. the sills don't get hot and bubble the paint.

Would not hurt to give Jon B a call and get his input on how to source the parts or "kit" to do this. If he does not have it, he will probably help direct you to who might.
Good Luck.
When I lived in FL I could not do without the AC.
