alarm issues

Hoping someone can help me with this.
When you set your alarm how many times does your horn beep?
Mine beeps three times and the red led on the dash will blink once when activated.
During the alarm being set the LED light will not blink to show alarm is on.
When deactiving the alarm only the signal lights blink once no horn sound.
Also when the alarm is on and the windows are down i can reach in and open the car door with the emergency release lever and the alarm does not sound.
I think i am having an issue with the alarm. Anyone have some experince in the alarm area and have some suggestions.

Direct from the owners manual for my '01 ACR:

Tamper Alert

If the horn sounds 3 times when you unlock the vehicle using the transmitter, the alarm has been activated. Check the vehicle for tampering.
###########################################

There is nothing in there indicating that it should beep more than once when arming the alarm.

My car 'disarms' the same as yours. Signals flash, no horn. This is what is supposed to happen per the manual.
