Back in November you all helped me solve an alarmproblem. http://vca1.viperclub.org/ubb/Forum14/HTML/008006.html

When I went to the car today, -96 GTS, to fix something else,I found I have a new Alarm problem!

Battery tender hooked up, so battery is o.k.
-Opened the door, but outside doorbutton doesn´t work
-Using inside emergency handle to open door - no led light on the inside doorlock button
- checked the transmitter by locking and alarm - no red led light flashing on instrument panel
- checked alarm by opening door, alarm went off so was still working
- turned alarm off with remote, no problem
- checked fuses no 5 in engine bay and no 14 under dash by switching them for another, according to manual
- syncronised remote by pressing both buttons
- checked that everything else in the car works, which it does including starting the car

Try this for 1996-1997 Viper alarms:

Car off, Alarm OFF (if you can turn it off)

Battery tender removed.

DISCONNECT BATTERY underhood, RED lead.

Wait 15 minutes. (dont know why. Lets smoke particles settle?)

Reconnect battery.

NOW, assuming the alarm does not activate.... RESET THE FOB
with both buttons. "toot"

NOW, DISARM the system.

Will the car start and run? I hope so....
{Idle WILL be rough.....run the A/C to fix faster.}

Turn car off, and ARM the alarm. Wait for LEDs to go out. Then DISARM the system. Are we normal yet?

Good luck..........

JonB,
Your Swedish is very good! Sure, next time you come to Stockholm, give me a call!
Yes, I know JP. We live close to 800 miles apart, but we meet at car meets during the summer!
Thanks again!

While the topic of alarms is hot - the activate beep on my 94 is almost inaudible and there is no tone for deactivate. A friend with the same car has the same sequence and sound level.

Is this normal and if so can the seqence be modified?

My '00 GTS has no de-activate tone, I don't think any Vipers do (stock system) just a flash of the parking lights. As far as the activate tone being almost inaudible, check and make sure you don't have a mouse nest in your horn!!
