Is there anyway to adjust the alarm sensitivity. It seems to be driggered by cars parking to close to me or a large truck noises etc....I think it might be a tad too sensitive. Or maybe she just misses me!

Cheers and thanks

 I do not believe the stock alarm has a motion sensing device so I am confused how this can occur (unless of course they are literally blowing your doors off :D ).

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.............interesting. The first time it happened was in the garage when I got near it and brushed it with my pants. The second time happened when I was at the track and this large dump truck came about twenty feet from the car and it triggered the alarm. The third time it happened was when a car parked close beside me, close meaning one parking spot over.

If the alarm does not sense motion, then how does it work?

Thanks
Patrick

Door, hood and trunk switches. My guess is you have a switch adjusted such that slight door, hood or trunk movement opens the switch.

Viper SRT is right on the money, check your trunk, some adjustment might be needed there to make sure it's closed.

Re: Alarm sensitivity?

Anyone come up with a definitive solution to the alarm problem? I'm out on biz and the damn thing goes off at the hotel parking lot. Getting tired of being called to kick it off. Anything I can do besides sleep in it? It started a few days ago after I gave it a wash and has been doing it since on an irregular basis. I could understand if it was a cat, not liking the water bath. Help!

Look at it this way. At least the alarm works, and people know not to eff with the Viper. I'd take a slight inconvience over a stolen Snake any day.

Re: Alarm sensitivity?

Same thing happened to my first SRT after a powerwash. Couple things to check before taking to dealer. Both deal with the trunk proximity switch (trunk ajar) located piggyback on the trunk latch. Open the trunk and it's staring at you.

1. moisture in the proximity switch - Fix by blowing an air source into the switch to dry. Water from powerwashing finds its way into the switch causing it to short. Similarly, I have found that the trunk is sealed very well, and any moisture left in the trunk, i.e., wet towels, condenses onto every surface in the trunk, including electrical components. Moist air gets out of the trunk only by leaving it open long enough for dry air to replace it. Moisture will not escape through the seals.

2. proximity switch barely engaged - If your trunk is particularly hard to close, the rubber trunk stop pads that contact the car body may be keeping the switch from fully engaging and need adjustment.

Hope this helps - good luck.

Thats good info. The light bulb just went on in my foggy head! I used to have that happen on my motorcycle after I pressure washed it too. The lights would come on until I blew it out with air. Spraying some CRC into the switches displaces the moisture.
