So, I called the dealer and this guy is right, it takes 8 days to align the Gen V and will cost 1 millllllion dollars! Okay, so there you go we can stop talking about it now.

LOL! Thanks for putting this issue to bed.

If it's any consolation, my brand spanking new Camaro was also out of alignment when new. I was getting a track alighnment any way, so no big deal. And the Bluetooth wouldn't connect, so a dealer visit was in order. And my daily driver Ford Flex went back to the dealer a couple of times before it was sorted in it's first week. They actually had to replace one of the factory catalytic converters, replace the giant glass moonroof, and fix a loud squeak in the dash. But easy to resolve, about as irritating as pimples. Once they go away, you forget all about them.

I called my local dealer and he said that if any other SRT dealer tells you it takes 8 days and one million they are scamming you !! He told me that according to the shop manual it only takes 4 days and should cost around $10,000. He also said that SRT offers a service plan for the alignment. He told me that for $250,000 that they will do the alignment as many times as needed for the first 3 years of ownership. Oh , and he also explained that there is the SRT low air in the tires service plan......

Some of you guys are acting like an alignment issue from the factory is the same as them forgetting to include a steering wheel. My Evo and s2000 both were out of alignment when I bought them. Had them both aligned within a few hundred miles. Done, and with a lot less complaining.

you sound stupid, read the thread. the only owners that had their gen v out of alignment are NOT complaining, we just got it fixed and are down with it. it's everyone else that doesn't have a gen V that is complaining about something they don't want to deal with they buy theirs.

read the thread. elanderholm is saying the owners who's car were out of alignment are complaining. the only 2 owners in the thread that talked about the car being out of alignment were just sharing not complaining. the contributors who were complaining don't have an alignment issue they are saying they can't believe gen v's can leave CAAP out of alignment. so i my opinion eldanderholm's post is stupid, he obviously didn't read the thread.

You probably have never worked in a manufacturing facility, I suspect. Especially when you automate something, it is easy to put out a multiples of an item with the exact same defect if the machine gets set up wrong due to human error or something broken. The more computerized the machine, the easier it is for it to be screwed up without someone noticing for a while. Simple copy and paste errors in a set up file or one digit entered wrong. Let's give the folks building this stuff a break, dammit. They are real people , not just some characters on a TV show to be put down by folks sitting in their judgement chairs high in their richie rich houses. (Sarcasm intended.) I have worked in a business where the highest quality is designed, inspected and built into the product, and we still get defects because we have to employe actual people, albeit American ones.

I wonder if there is a different alignment spec for the GTS and SRT

I never said anything about the owners. I never said any group in particular. I read the thread and was very clear: I was talking to the people complaining.
I don't know how I could be more clear. If you weren't complaining or lamenting how this was a serious problem why would you even think my post was targeted at you?

Per a G5 certified Viper tech the WARRANTY time on a G5 alignment is 3.2 hours and they will quote customers 4.8 hours on non warranty work. That would include setting ride height, dynamic toe, camber, etc...

Well NOW we are finally on to something addressing my original thread. And thanks for taking the time to check on this and relay the info. It is less than a tech told me but still fairly time consuming.

Oh yes, the sky is falling. A new Viper needed an alignment! SRT has failed, the Gen V is doomed!!!

Sorry I singled out your post, but I can't believe how nit-picky so many posts on this forum have been of late. Some people just tend to focus on the negative in life. I tend to ignore the bumps in the road and instead enjoy the drive.
u can notice they just joined the forums lol just ignore em they'll fade

One of the biggest issues I see with the rear alignment is that they installed a cam for the rear bumpsteer adjustment. The uninformed tech will most likely try to turn this and thinking its the toe adjustment. If this happens then you are into a half a day plus alignment. Adjusting bumpsteer is not a easy task. And this is what drives the cost of the alignment sky Hi. But with that not every car needs this procedure done. making it a easy job that should not take more then a hour of so to complete.
