Woo-hoo! Way to go, Vipermed. That is NICE!!!
I've never been particularly interested in aftermarket hoods. But now yours comes along, and I want one of those on mine...that is, once I get mine. But I can still want one now! *grin* Fantastic work.

That looks really cool IMHO. Very snakey.

I'd be interested in speed tests. I had my hood striker break at 140 with a slight headwind (20-30mph) I wonder, have you paid any particular attention to the strength of mounting the strikers?

The hood will be very aggressively priced at $4500 introductory offer....less than the cost of a used hood. This price will be just to get some on the street at first as this has been a very expensive and time consuming undertaking. This hood will install as fast as the factory hood, we have installed all of the factory hardware for perfect retrofit. The cars that will benefit the most will be the supercharged and twinn turbo cars that generate gobs of heat, and of course the "POSERS"Next chance you get look at the escape route for the heat on the existing hood: 2 side louvers sandwiched between the fenderwells. It will also be available in a single shell for the pure racers that will not use factory hardware, $2900. Sorry for not putting better pictures on tonight, my wife is the computer expert and will post all angle pics tomorrow

Anyone interested in this hood email me at [email protected] and i will email more detailed pictures. Not to toot my own horn but this is a piece of work that i am extremely proud of.

Thanks........As far as the strikers, latches and hinge supports, they are mounted between the two hood layers in heavy gauge coated steal plates. We have not done any high speed testing yet,but can say that they will hold up to everything the factory hood will and more.A lot of planning ,design and attention to detail has gone into this hood as it is a very complex and EXPENSIVE design. The introductory price that we are offering is only to get them on some Vipers around the country.I havent decided how long we will be offering them at that price, there is limited profit in the current price we are more interested in the exposure.I will say this, when the price does go up it wont be drastic. Thanks for all interest,I am back in town and will be answering my emails......Scott

Looks great! What about water issues when washing the car or catching it in the rain? I was told that you should avoid getting water between the heads in the intake valley. Don't know why, but was advised that by my dealer. I also don't know (as in really don't know) what effect water would have on plug wires, etc. Just curious!

Great design!

Am I crazy to think that if the 2 sets of 8 louvers in the center of the hood were replaced with 2 sets of clear plexiglass to reveal that awesome V-10 similar to that lambo in a recent post.... I mean, I'm frequently wrong in my opinions but haven't been wrong yet today, so I'm having a good day. How many times do we pop the hood to show off the engine where this would be clear as day for everyone to see our awesome V10. Am I crazy? Vipermed, I think you are doing spectacular work and while I'm not going to alter my stock Blue/White, my next viper will be "Vipermeded" to the max. Keep up the good work!

Its funny you say that about the hood window as that was one of my first considerations in designing a hood, but unfortunately with the structural strength demands of the viper hood it just was not feasable. If it was a standard hood as the gen3, but with the clamshell design overall strength is a must.Y2KSRT.....The water issues have been considered and as the hood is a duall shell with an overlapping design, short of submerging we dont see a concern. As far as your dealers concerns of the block galley ,i believe they are referring to its depth and the inability to remove it once its down there other than through heat. Can i say that there is no chance of water comming in contact with the engine in an extreme weather condition,no but i can safely say short of submerging you will never get enough in there to damage your engine in any way. After all, as we all know after a good down pour our engine compartment is trashed driving in the rain and most of that is comming from under the car and the wheel wells.
