A few weeks back there was a post sharing an e-mail from Viper HQ that the ambassador coupon program now applied to various SRT models including the SRT-10 convertible (but not the new coupe). The coupon entitles the holder to the "preferred price", i.e., one percent below invoice. I phoned Viper HQ and they confirmed this and said the dealer simply had to run the control number on the back of the coupon through the dealer's computer system and it should work.
I received one of these coupons in the mail and hope to apply it to the purchase of my blue 2006 SRT-10 convertible which should be arriving at the dealer in the week or two. The dealer contacted me to inform me that he confirmed that Viper HQ's position is that the coupons can be applied to the SRT-10 convertible but that he is hearing conflicting information from his or DiamlerChrysler's incentive department which is reporting that the coupon does not apply to the SRT-10 convertible. The dealer is currently working to resolve the discrepancy but has told me that he would ultimately need to go with what his incentive department says.
For any dealers out there like Bill Pemberton or anyone knowledeable about this process, any sugestions on how to clarify this ambiguity? It seems inequitable for Viper HQ to take the position that the coupon can be used only to have another department or entity in DiamlerChrysler override that position.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
