I wanted my viper to be faster, louder, to ride smoother, and sit a little lower. I had Dan Cragin install American Racing headers with the kooks green cats, they are 300 cell and don't smell at all and with Dan relocating the rear 02 sensors there are no codes on the dash after 500 miles. The car sounds like a race car and with the 373 gears the car is much quicker and first gear is so much fun, the gears really change the car. Since i have the coupe i only had one suspension setting and it was harsh as a DD so Dan installed the MCS stage 2 suspension and the car rides so much smoother. He also lowered it 1/2 inch (carbon aero package stopped me from lowering 1 full inch). Dan also modified the inlet to the stock mufflers and made it 3inch so it's a full 3 inch exhaust. If you are on the fence the 373 gears with ARH will change your car into a monster!!!

How did you tune it with a full header and exhaust? How did you increase fuel flow?

It's not tuned. These cars are set up Rich and when the computer senses that extra
Airflow is happening it dumps more fuel. Gen v owners have being test AFR at wot with headers and the computer senses the extra flow and dumps more fuel for safety.

Hi Kris,
What is the engine speed at 70MPH w/ the 3.73 gear? Does the higher RPM quiet down the drone somewhat (as it put the engine RPM out of the resonance range)?

headers with no drone what so ever, man this car sounds amazing. the 373 gears make a completely different rig. here are before and after shots of the rpms at 80, 75, 70, & 65.

Can we assume the headers and cats will exceed noise level limits at tracks that have them? Any idea how it compares to an ACR-X?

I believe ACRX came with headers and no cats. Cats definitely help reduce noise but I hadn't done any db tests. I will be going to run they car at autoclub speedway in August, I'll let you know if they kick me off. I doubt it because I use to run my zr1 there and it was really loud too.

That's where I'm going to start. Met the tuner from Arrow that worked on the Mopar ECU and he was pretty pumped about the improvement it makes.

That was my plan too but considering Woodhouse posted 3 months ago that the PCM is coming and is now still stuck in legal made me pull the trigger on the headers and gear now. The way I see it is once the controller does release it will be a 10 min swap and instant extra power will be there.

Any plans to run in the 1/4 to see if she will break 130mph? Would love to see if their is a mph improvement with just the headers and gears. With the pcm it should be pretty nasty NA if the pcm lives up to the hype.

The dealer has to use the factory scan tool to do a throttle relearn.
