After the 9-11 tragedy, many VCA members donated money, via the VCA, to the Red Cross for relief efforts. Our motives, as well as the VCA's, were altruistic.
In this week's issue of NEWSWEEK, an article by Steven Brill documents that this agency is presently providing funds of up to $10,000.00 (tax free)to drivers of luxury sedans in New York. These drivers may still be making $700 to $1000/week, but are eligible if they can prove that their respective companies lost income as a result of the attacks. It has been estimated that 2000-3000 drivers have already received their checks.
It is truly sad comentary when funds donated for relief of legitimate victims are diverted to individuals who are clearly less than deserving.
