The drawing occurred at 1PM today, in Michigan, by Bob (our attorney) and Bill White. I am happy to announce that a fellow Texan won with ticket #1296.

I just got off the phone with the winner at 1:15pm, and can now tell the world...

We didn't have enough tickets for a Hellcat, (we have a few lesson's learned from this raffle, namely do a Viper and lower the ticket prices for the next one, which starts in a few weeks) so as such this raffle was a 50/50 raffle.

But Wendell Loban, from South Texas is our winner of nearly $40k. Wendell bought a single ticket, so Wendell basically got a 2000% return, not a bad deal...

What's more, Wendell has secured the VCA allocation for the Hellcat and is using his winnings towards that.

Talk about a smart guy, parlays $200 into 40k, ~75k to 100k (the street value of a HC). $65k in profit is a nice days work.

Look for happy photos from a new Hellcat winner/owner soon.

Please congratulate Wendell and his wife, who are the owners of 2 great Vipers (a Gen 1 and Gen 2), who will be adding a new Hellcat to the collection soon.

Congrats Wendell! If you paid $200 for the ticket, that's 200 times your investment without considering taxes. Well done.

Just thought this photo was fun and appropriate. It is $40,000.00 in a briefcase. And, no, it was not given to the winner. It is just a photo I pulled off the web.

Wow, its amazing how physically large amounts like that are in real life. Just goes to show you when you see a movie and they have "millions" in a small duffle, its full of crap like most of hollywood.

Makes me think I should take a few paychecks in all cash and act like a balla. All fun and games until you get mugged tho :) Perhaps a hellcat is a better way to go :)

Congratulations on the win Wendell. Nice to see you take advantage of the allocation the VCA was able to secure through Tomball Dodge, thanks to club sponsor Ben Keating, who also operates Viper Exchange.

Maybe our next raffle, which is planned to be a 2016 Viper ACR, will generate more interest.:)

So since the grand prize was changed, does that mean the sub prizes were also removed from the raffle (tires, coupons, etc)?

Map-

Unfortunately in the fine print that I know no one likes to read it said that if we didn't sell enough tickets, it becomes 50/50 and the 2/3rd prices vacate. So yes, that's what happened.

The reality is not enough tickets were sold, there are many reasons for this, some within our control to which we are changing in the next raffle (pricing, selection of prize), and some outside our control (individuals that still like to cause pain to other viper owners by posting "boycott this club" everywhere).

At the end of the day, we can do what others do and force people to partake in gaming activities by wrapping a raffle up into an event price and call it a door prize, or we can leave it to choice for people to either partake in an event like VOI and choose (or not) to take part in a raffle. I think the latter is more fair, and in keeping with how we've done things for 20 years, but perhaps people don't think much of having a choice in the matter and don't mind being forced to fund an entity and forced to partake in gaming...?

Boyy- I see where you're going here, fair point, I remember it saying something about getting in before we open it to non-current members, and generating excitement in perhaps selling out before we opened it up to non-current members, or even-non-viper owners (we had windows that we would have loved to sell out before we opened up to the next group of eligible buyers). If it was written in a way that caused an interpretation as almost sold out completely, clearly that was in error.

I think I do remember reading that on the tickets. I don't really have a problem with it, that's totally fair. Just curious. Thanks for the reminder!

Greg, it would have been great to end it after the first paragraph. If someone tells me to boycott something it has zero affect on my ultimate decision. It is what it is. Casting blame on the other guys and disparaging their recent raffle/door prize is childish. Far below the standards that you try to expound. Not good.

Granger fair point. I'm glad you were not swayed by the negative postings made on the hellcat forums, mopar forums, and other Viper sites. While I think I clearly took blame for the main causes for slow sales (price/prize) we have to assume that those not as intimately familiar with the BS might have been swayed, and so it's I think fair to point out. You've put words in my mouth, I cast ZERO blame on "other guys" as I have ZERO idea who did it, but they did it often. But I'll say it one last time so there is no confusion, our pricing and prize selection were the main detractors to lower than expected sales, and I will take blame for that.

Calling me childish on saying I shouldn't have an opinion about other ways to fund a club? That's not fair. Please contrast my post, clearly saying that I don't agree with that approach, is HARDLY trashing it, with perhaps other officers of other clubs discussing the way we do things. If your idea is on the table for a successful raffle is bundling in an event, then, I'd love to hear the argument for it.

Let's be crystal clear, we could have an event this year, could have done last VOI, or next VOI, with a bundled raffle door prize. There is nothing wrong with that, we just don't want people to have a choice between attending a viper event and participate in gaming. Some people just want to go to an event with their car. I can clearly be outvoted on how we do that, but that's how I feel at this time. How others do things is their business, how we formulate ways to run this club are mine, and yours.

If anyone has ideas on raffles, we're all ears, perhaps the bundled approach is the right one, I'm human, I can be convinced of the error of my ways, and am always open to ways to have fun and do things differently.

Greg. I didn't say you shouldn't have an opinion; just that you were wrong to express it. You're better than that. It's quite clear that you are the "voice" of this administration, and that is a good thing. I personally believe you've done a great job. Don't diminish you effectiveness by making unnecessary comments. You have a couple of people on site that have proven quite capable of doing that. Time to get over this and move forward.

I like to think that 33.3 percent of my unnecessary comments are attempts at humor, 33.3 percent are in response to trolls, and 33.3 percent are made because of blatant injustice due to unscrupulous vendors and various individuals who have no business partaking in club leadership. There is a .01 percent that is deleted immediately by VJ. I haven't been around a horribly long time, but there has been a sort of calm over this latest raffle. I'm a bit shocked by it and I think it could possibly mean that people are finally getting settled in and moving away from the drama. As things start to calm down and everybody begins to accept people for who they are, peace will befall the Viper World. Peace and tranquility is all I have ever wanted......

Sorry, still 2 in my books as some people are not worth acknowledging.

When you "acknowledge" that someone is not worth acknowledging, it could very well be interpreted as the highest form of acknowledgement.

PS - what happened to the other non-post? Thought the days of censorship and vanishing threads were gone?
Not much gets deleted, or even altered these days. We try and let people have a discussion. Most deletions are because comments are off topic, ****** or don't conform to the posting policies.

Just curious - Im guessing because it didnt sell out (and there
is no VPA to honor them) there were no 2nd or 3rd place prizes
awarded?

Bonkers,

The raffle did not have to sell out for 2nd and 3rd place prizes to be awarded but we did have to sell a minimum number of tickets, I think 1000 ticket sales was the number, which unfortunately we did not do. I guess not enough Viper owners wanted to win a Hellcat.....

Hopefully our next raffle car, a 2016 Viper ACR, will generate more interest and resulting ticket sales.

VPA was sold as you mentioned, however, if we had sold the necessary number of tickets to award 2nd and 3rd place prizes, we would have paid the two winners in cash $4000.00 and $2000.00. respectively as that was the value of the two prizes.

Dan
