Im hoping my problems will help other in the future diagnose the same symptoms.

After a week of overheating, adding coolant the car is at the dealer. Diagnosis: waterpump.

Symptoms: Car would NOT overheat at idle. Once the car was driven, it would instantly overheat. Im thinking the impeller would spin no problem at idle, once torque was applied on the input shaft on the impeller, the shaft would spin freely inside the impeller. Just a theory. Obviously.

Im surprised me being .5 gallons low on collant (my fault) wanst the problem.

Too bad there isnt a water pump this side of the Mississippi. ETA: 1 week.

At least when something was broken on my C5 it was something stupid like the lights flipping up when I honked the horn. :)

Yeah. There is a bunch of mixed up info about this problem. I think ViperWizard said that all Viper waterpumps had plastic impellers that were prone to cracking but there was a problem with the manufacuring of '00-'01 waterpumps that would allow the impeller to spin on the shaft.

I know this topic has probably been beaten to death with theories (mostly people with gen 1s adding plastic water pump impellers onto the list of gen2 inferorities) : ) but evidently they all had plastic impellers.
