Customer/faceless friend in a 2001 ACR. Thanksgiving day. Street speeds. Good driver....good drivers school and even some race credentials. Encountered compromised traction (sand) in a long sweeper curve, in a business area of curbed roadway. Lost conrol, hit curb hard, sideways RR. He was only wearing his OE 3-pt belt. ACR harnesses unused.
Impact threw/bent him backwards and right....injuring ribs and kidney against rear of center console. Reguired hospitalization for "obvious" internal bleeding. Released next A.M - today.
Will he now wear his 5-pts always? Probably. Does he still love his Viper? You bet. I was one of the first persons he called just after he got out of hospital, for repair facility and repair and insurance advice.
This is the season for diminished traction.....Lower avg temp during day means cooler roads. Leaves, sand blowing around. Less light and visibility. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE !
