You might want to check the clamps on the smooth tubes you installed. I know it would be obvious, but what the heck. I had Mopar tubes put on my car during an oil change at my friendly Dodge dealer (no charge for the install) and they left the clamps sitting at the top. It put two holes in the hood liner. And they bought me a new one. Just a thought!
Oh, and I would defend the craftmanship on these cars to the end. It would seem strange, because I have probably had more problems than most:
* Bad A/C evaporator (replaced)
* Bad A/C compressor (replaced)
* Bad master cylinder reservoir (replaced)
* Bad door switch (on order)
* Wandering driver's side mirror (fairly common)
* Leaking windshield (not touched yet)
* Missing cupholders (KIDDING!)
* Oh yeah, and a bad motor - rebuilt by Arrow
Guess what? I am still head-over-heels in love with this car! I have used it to the fullest extent in every environment. I have taken classes in road racing, autocross, and even made a few passes on the drag strip (grin). I still have the original tires at 19,500 miles. The car has had a few problems that were not critical to the operation of the car. The motor was due to oil burning, but it ran great. Any other car would respond to such vigorous driving by falling apart. This baby is SOLID!
Oh, and in case you are curious, the 2000 GTS has had five (5) technical service bulletins (TSB's) issued for it since its release. The 2000 Corvette has had ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE (105). Give me a Viper any day of the week.
