In the UK we are blessed with all manner of speed humps/bumps etc.

Had no problem with a 95 RT/10 or my 2000 GTS so do not worry.

However the RT10 does rattle more than the GTS something to do with being a sportscar.

Enjoy the car

Houston used to be the most potholed city in Texas. I think George Grenias the Rice professor ran on the platform that he was going to set up a computer model for tracking when streets had been last repaired.

I lived in the area just north of Holcombe between Greenbriar and Main. The potholes made it great for keeping speeding in the neighborhood down to a minimum, otherwise they reeked havoc on your front alignment.

So, how many times did you vote in the last Presidential election? The RNC may want to talk to you...

Hi,

Just drove my car from Miami to Manhattan NY. I keep places in both Miami and New York and like the idea of having the Viper up in NYC.. at least till Winter rolls in. There are filled in potholes and road irregularities all over the city so I'm afraid about the combination of the harsh suspension and the road causing permanent body squeels and rattles later on. Miami is pretty smoooth all over so outside of 1 buzzing issue, that I am working, I've never noticed any other noises. After taking the 1,300 mile trip up to NY and driving around NY for 2 days, I noticed a new loud clanking sound coming from the trunk area whenever I hit a big bump and a minor clicking sound coming from the driver side window. Also, I noticed that the headliner popped open one of it's fastening buttons.

If I continue to drive the car alot in the city, am I asking for it?.. or does the Viper normally hold up pretty well and a couple creaks and groans are inevitable? I'd appreciate any feedback from Viper owners that drive their cars alot on crappy roads. Thanks--- John

Potholes? You should try driving on streets in the Detroit area. We invented potholes. The streets jar me enough to knock some of my tooth fillings out. And yes, it has contributed to squeeks and rattles in the Viper. But, I hasn't stopped me from driving it.

Funny you should mention potholes!

Yesterday (Sunday), I was just leaving Nelson Ledges Road Course, OH (2 mile, very rough track) and I was out of gas, so I pull into this big Marathon mega-station that was kinda' run down.

Well, I pull in a side road and am going behind the main building to where I think are the pumps.

Only to find that the place is closed down and I was in the middle of a lot that had been ATTACKED BY MOTAR FIRE!

I had to get out of my car, plot a course between the holes, drive 10', get back out, correct course, etc. etc. ad infinitum, ad absurdum.

Simply UNBELIEVABLE!

San Antonio has it's fair share of potholes. The flooding of the roads (even light rain causes floods) causes lots of erosions, and the cyclic heating/cooling of the road plus excess traffic really takes its toll on the pavement. Luckily I drive the 4x4 most of the time, so I don't really notice them

i have been driving the Viper in ny for a little over a year now, and so far it has been holding up. A few squeaks here and there.
As far as the noise from the back, i had the same problem. Turned out to be the spare. I made it really tight and have not heard anything since.

Are you kidding? Where have you been living, in a cave? New York roads are absolutely horredous. Go down the West Side highway (which is not too bad) and make a left at Canal St. - drive around those streets for a while. Then ask that question again.

Potholes? Who cares?
I can't get anywhere because of a new $.05 gasoline tax imposed 3 years ago. Every freakin' major route is under "street renewal."

This is bad? That tax is considered a USER FEE, paid by the users to maintain and expand the infrastructure being used. The trick is to make sure that those fees are constitutionally dedicated and not siphoned off to General Revenue accounts.

Undedicated gas taxes only get you more potholes.

I live in Montreal (Québec, Canada) and I can tell you that this is the worst place in North America for potholes (Guinness Record approved)... I suggest you the 17' wheels to soften the ride!!

I believe this (cabbies) to be more of a problem than the poor road conditions. Comparatively, potholes don't move, are not aggressive, obnoxious and completely self involved, are not willing to risk life and limb for $5.00...and ARE washed on at least a bi-weekly basis (naturally or mechanically by the sanitation department). Interesting however is that both do not speak english.

Of course, I can't quote it, but I heard/read/imagined while smoking *** that Detroit has not only the worst roads in the country, but we ALSO spend more money on fixes (and thus we get the added benefit of using 2 out of any given 4 lanes whenever there isn't snow on the ground - I've switched jobs 4 times and apartments 2 times in the last 2 years, and I've yet to have a single day where I haven't driven on a road under construction on the way to work) than anyone else

Potholes ?? Is that what you call those meteor impact sites all over the roads in Northern Minnesota ?? The only thing that makes the holes a little smoother, is when driving over'em, your tires roll over a VW Beetle's roof that's wedged down inside of one like chicken in a Fajita... Do they make 33x13x17 swamper tires that'll fit on my '96 GTS ?? If you're familiar with Photshop, I'd like to see a pic of that combo !! Thanks
