I think Bugeater has had the most experience with USAA.... and check with Kenny - he has some pretty good insight into who's good and who isn't.... :)

I have USAA for everything. House, cars, financing. They have the best rates for everything and have been superior in service and speed of claims.
I would recommend USAA to anyone that can get them.

Actually, it's available to extended family, too. So if you have an uncle in the military, for example, you should be able to get coverage. Check out USAA.com for #'s to call.

I have had them always, when I was 18 bad accident, other guys fault. I was sued USAA settled, never charged me a penny more. Great company, my Viper insurance is the same as my LS1 F-Body and my Toyota SUV. IF they have a good year, they send money back to you at Christmas time, this year I got $450.00, last year I got $700.00. I have a lot insured with them. You won't find a better company or rates for that matter.

USAA started in the 1930s (or so) as a company to provide low-cost insurance to military officers. In recent years, coverage has been extended to enlisted personnel through USAA's "general agency." Correct that extended family members also qualify, as well as former and retired personnel.

Best insurance company, ever, in my opinion.

I not only have their insurance, but work there (which is also what makes me eligible for their insurance).

Great company with excellent customer service!!!

Used to have USAA...don't anymore. In Texas they have a $5000 deductable on homeowners for hail damage. Last week I had golfball sized hail here. I now have Allstate for the house and my wife's Q45 and save $$$s plus no specific deductable for hail. My VIPER is under full coverage with no restrictions with Nationwide for $1200 per year. :usa:

I've had USAA for about 15 years. I think they're great. They insure everything I own to include my '02GTS, '93vette, and two Toyota's. I've read the complaints on the web too--eye opening to say the least, and humbling. Therefore, I agree with the others, and recommend you shop around. But, I will tell you that back in '91, I was pretty impressed with their service. After the volcano in the Philippines went off, USAA sent a team to appraise the damage to cars and property owned by policy holders. While there, they surveyed your damage, helped you with the claim, and cut you a check right there on the spot. Not many insurance companies will do that. I also get a nice dividend check from them every year around Christmas. I'm not sure if many companies do that either. Good luck.

20 year USAA memebr; just dropped....

I had two incidents - one involving my daughter who opened her door and hit a new Lexus sportcars. Both incidents cause $700 damage combined. Coupled with a u-turn ticket two years ago they said they were going to raise my rates from $1200/year to $4000/year!

(I've insured 3 Vipers with them).

USAA is fine. Just dont have more than 3 "incidents" (tickets or claims) reported in a three year period. By the way, even calling about making a claim will get you 1 incident (even if no payout!).

After 20 years and virtually no claims the whole time thats the thanks I get. F 'em, I switched to Progressive for half of what they wanted.

About getting dividend checks from USAA, I had been getting them every year until last year, they said NC was screwing them and so they couldn't afford it.

Jon-Mike,

I was concerned with the thread a few weeks ago on problems guys were having obtaining insurance for track "Schools"...so I called USAA. They said No way. Anyway...if you work for USAA can you advise if there's a way to run the Viper at track events and still get USAA coverage. I've been with them since I was a 2Lt...a long time ago!

Thanks...Paul :usa:

That is odd. :( I called them when I moved back from Italy and asked about driving schools and such. First time they said no way....then I called again and they had a different tone. Basically they took the stance that it was in THEIR best interest if I took my car and learned to drive it properly. I was told it was covered as long as it was "instructional", not timed, etc. AS "2 Viper Chuck" knows...I'll likely never have my car on a track ( :) ) but I would at least like to have that option if I ever grow some! LOL

MR U2 - I work in an financial/analysis area so I really don't have any expertise on the matter...sorry about that.

I had read Vipermad's post in the past that USAA said they would cover such instruction and have relied on that info if I did indeed decide to go to a driver training event.

**** statements are nowhere near as nice as written/printed - any way to obtain such?

Plenty of answers here, but I also have USAA. No problems at all. Hell, I even got a quote for a 94 348 TS and it was only $300 every 6 months! If you cvan get them, do it.RG
