Anybody move from 17" to 18" wheels for tire cost and availability; not appearance?

Over the years I've accumulated 17" rims and tires and because I have a tire machine, it's no big deal to switch, flip side to side, or replace tires. But before looking for the next set I'm asking for opinions and experience from anyone that moved to 18" wheels just because they found 18" tires more available, cheaper, etc?

I was surprised that 17" and 18" rear PS2s are same price; but 18" front PS2s are $60 more expensive. Maybe staying 17" is better. This is a daily driver question, so appearance does not matter.

(Hint: Interested in 17" tire take-offs or maybe 18" wheel sets. Badge of "Curb-rash" would be worn proudly.)

when i bought mine it had the stock 17's. woodhouse worked a deal for the 2002 wheels which were 18. and recently stuck with 18" all around for prices and availability. but after i got my wheels, the 19" PS2 became avail... .:(

now im stuck with 18 where i wanted 18/19

I did...went with BFG's...at the time, they were almost half of what the PS2's were running.

Will be going back to 17's though before too long...unless HRE's are in my future.

They have 2/32 less tread than PS02. "Negligable" Especially since ou can buy TWOS SETS for the PS 2 price for ONE set!

They 'probably' get similiar tread life, maybe a bit less.....not enuf anecdotal useage stats yet. NEW TIRE. All feedback has been great so far.... handling, grip, looks.

I almost had you arrested for attempted ******. I opened my garage door and without looking walked out and nearly killed myself in a tower of rubber. Absolutely positively was less than 24 hours! And they're now mounted up on rims, be on the car soon. Thanks, Jon!

Tom, let us know how you like the new rubber, differences noticed, etc. The price compared to PS'2 is hard to beat!

Jon,
Is that price still good ("We have FOUR 17" new tires for under $800/set DELIVERED!) for all 4 tires on a 1995 Gen1? Can you PM me a quote?
Thanks,
Gary
