Anyone ever go up against this car? If so what was the outcome?

Anyone ever go up against a 2011 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG? If so what was the outcome? Interested to know because I had the opportunity to do so this past weekend and I was amazed how well my stock (except exhaust, K&N's, and smooth tubes) 1997 Viper B/W GTS did against it in 2, second gear rolls all the way well into 4th gear. Pulled the Benz by about a nose at top of 3rd gear and same in 4th until we had to let up. Very evenly matched. Very safe surroundings on old air strip. Just ran out of room to keep going. Two beautiful cars letting it all hang out with pretty much an even outcome at the end.

I have seen the SL65 run 125-128mph trap speeds with just a tune, hard to believe an almost stock GTS will run with one. I'm with Phil.

Boys check the data..The Viper has faster MPH..and with the right hook up on tires..

The Viper can shave a couple tenths off. The Merc with more 61 HP can not overcome the weight difference of the Viper.
Compare the Merc and Viper from 0-140..The Snake comes alive even more..

Watch out for the Brabus, Renntech and new MBK 1,000 mods, they put down between 800-1,000 hp.

Boys I think we are forgetting the easy mods that can be done on the Viper as well..

The Viper is always a formidable super car in any trim. Stock or modified it can hang with the best and more often then not beat it's competitor

Isn't the general rule a 1/10 off the 1/2 for every 100lbs? The 600hp viper has an 800 lb advantage over a 68hp loss. I would say it's a drivers race any day. Obviously aerodynamics would factor into the "general rule." But ya, a gen2..no way. However it wouldn't be a complete blowout. A decent driver should be pulling 12.00 on that gen 2 the OP has.

Ok the Gen 2 was in question..I misread the post ..my bad..

but the from other tests I read the SRT-10 is faster in a straight line...and on a race course the Viper embarrassed the Merc.
Not sure why it is hard to believe that the Viper is faster then the Merc. I would expect the Viper to be by, logic.
Power to weight ratios Merc is at 6.38
SRT-10 is at 5.70
