<< Mr Vanjoki had to pay a fine equal to 14 days of his income in 1999, >> ..which comes to $12.5 million. >>

DAMNNN!! That comes to $892,857+ a DAY!!

I wonder if he would consider adopting a middle-aged male from central IL? :D

That's crazy, The cannonballers in the cannonball run just barely get under $7,000 for doing 213 in a Porsche and this dude is getting hit for $103,000 for doing 15 over!

(No lie about the cannonball fines. I got the 03' DVD recently.)

From what I was told...no. We were told upon arriving in country that most tickets would be overlooked. Something along the lines of, immunity (that isn't the term they used, I just can't think of the correct one) so long as they weren't EXCESSIVE speeds. If they were excessive, they would just send them directly to your commander for them to deal with you. None of mine were "excessive", I guess. I have been back in the US since Dec. of 98. No letters. However, the german gov't stated that it can take up to 6 months for a ticket to be mailed to you. (I should note that I was never pulled over...only ticketed via the cameras.)

I don't think it would be a bright idea to go back to Germany in about 10 years when all the interest and fines for not paying your fines are added up ;)

It's a long story. However, I will try to shorten it up. I was just moving back from Germany to be stationed in El Paso, Texas. I took 30 days of leave to visit family back home in Florida. I picked up my car in florida(shipped it back from Germany) and drove it to Texas. Somewhere in Leon county Florida I get a 95 in a 70 speeding ticket (literally just took care of that one a couple of weeks ago. The ticket was issued in Jan of 99)About 24 hours later I get another ticket in El Paso, Tx for doing 85 in a 60.

I took the defensive driving as stated by the Officer to do. Turned in the paperwork to my insurance company. Well, just before being deployed back to Kuwait, I get a supeona for an unpaid ticket. What???? Ya, they said due to having a Florida license, I wasn't allowed to take the course in Texas. (Sorry folks, I am a Texas resident, being that I am stationed in there.) Anyway, the court date was set after I would have been deployed. I contacted the courthouse and explained this to them. They told me to type a formal letter and attach my orders and mail it in. I would hear from the courts as to wether they would except it.

It has been since 99 and I still haven't heard from them!

Based off offender's income. That *****!

Heck... If I lived there, I'd "give" my mom all of my money, drive "her" Viper... declare myself poor and speed alllll I want... heck, they'd probably pay me to speed!

Euro countries are stupid... we help free them of communism, and they just gravitate to it all by themselves. Duh. The people are ok, but their governments are whacked! And they call us names. There's a reason all the hollywood idiots didn't move to Europe after threatening to do so after the last election... their accountants informed them of Euro tax policies.

God Bless America! :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa: :2tu: :2tu: :2tu: :2tu:

It's nice that they have those speeding ticket rates based on known income, because that just screws their own citizens, as opposed to foreigners about which they would have no information :2tu:

Don't be too quick to judge, you need to look at some specific laws in certain states in this country. Check out Louisiana laws about siezure of your car. They have broad power to take your car, then you must post a bond EQUAL TO THE VALUE of the CAR, JUST to get a HEARING! Or so says 60 minutes
