I have posted two similar questions in this group during the last couple of days. About "HELLA" and about "PIAA". Nobody answered ...

The first problem is to find a lamp that fits into the hole that we have on the bumper.

The second is to find a good quality lamp. I had a FF 100 on my Stealth but I did`t like it. I am looking for a driving lamp. It is better than a Fog lamp.

So far the only one that I really liked and fits on the Viper is the PIAA HID 600 series driving lamp. Unfortunately it costs 1200$US !

Before I buy it I would like to chat with somebody who already has it ....

Hi,

The units in the car are made by Hella and either badged for VW or Audi.

I have been able to find replacements for fogs but as yet still trying to find driving lights.

Even phoned Hella in Europe but they were unable to trace them as OEM reakoned they were made for VW/Audi only.

However we have a [******] car in the Uk that has clear lamps (driving) but the owner says they were fitted when Rawlson in the UK made the original kit on this car.

I will contine this quest and if any luck will pm you.

I think that the VW Golf which you call a Rabbit may have small driving lights on the GTI model which fit but I have been unable to confirm this.

Best of luck

The only after market lamps (fog/clear/driving) fitting perfectly on the Viper is the PIAA 600 H.I.D.

I did a very extensive search on this.
I wish I missed something but unfortunately didn`t.

Well I have got these famous Audi lamps ...
I could also post a photo but I don't know how to do.
Here is the part number.
Volkswagen / Audi
871 941 703
127 222-01
H3
02 B
8379 Hella HLO Made in Germany

And they perfectly fit on the Viper.
However they are not with clear lenses but give a great light.

What you could do is stick the HID bulbs (True HID) and it would improve the lighting tremendously.

I just put in 10,000K HID system in mine and what a difference it makes. Everything glows!

I got them from a friend of mine wh ownS A PERFORMANCE SHOP. I paid $385.oo for the 10,000K HID system. REAL NICE and bright! Plug and play. Things just glow at night.

I plan on doing my fog lights next. When my fog lights are on, they look like birthday candles compared to the HID lights. The HID lights are German made and are the best!

If you want some, let me know. It took me about 20 mins to install them. It's as simple as changing a bulb.

I am not changing a thing. It comes with two ballasts. The lights actually run cooler than the stock ones!

The entire assembly fit right into the headlight unit without any problems at all.

It's a truely a plug and play type light. Like I said it glows!! The bulbs are clear and not coated with blue tint or any crap like that. If you get a set, you will love them!

I just bought some (and got them today) 6000k HID Xenon Fog Lights. I have 6500k for my low beam and I can't stand the fog lights now. I'll post some pics after the install.

I put a set of fairly cheap 5.5" driving lights (driving lights = pin-point beam for distance, not the flat wide beam of fog lights) into the fog light openings with great results a number of years ago on my old 1995 RT. Admittedly a bit too low of a mounting point for driving lights (little tiny bumps show huge shadows and take a little getting used to :), but, without putting an aftermarket front end on the car, thats pretty much our only option. I ran separate 12-gauge power wires plus a dedicated relay off of the main power tap for them (as they were 110W- the stock fogs are something like 25W, I seem to recall). You'll laugh or criticize, but I put some el-cheapo driving lights in there ($20 each from JC Witless) more as a proof of concept than anything else, and I was very happy with them, so I never changed them out. Biggest challenge was the mounting - I used some aluminum stock bent into an L-shape, mounted to the fender behind the lights. On an unrelated note, I also put in an HID system about 30,000 miles ago, and spent a long time re-aiming the lights, and have yet to be brighted by someone (guess I got them aimed right). Yes, I like to be able to see a long ways at night... :)

I tend to think we can put any 5" round fog/driving lights in there but I personally didn't want to deal with fabricating to make it fit. Needless to say, I end up putting out the cash for OEM lights - which are made by Hella for VW/Audi... The VW part noted above doesn't have the same mounting hardware as ours...

Now does anyone know what I can put over these fogs to keep them from harm?
