Anyone in Texas help us track down the facts on a crashed Viper

If anyone can help with this it seems its turned up in the UK and the concern is that the car has been ringed ie it is a stolen car with a total loss VIN number, we do know that the Vin is from a total loss but the seller and possibly the new owner don't seem that bothered.
I have cut and pasted the Carfax below and any facts would be great. Cars is a first batch 96/97 GTS.

No no pics I am afraid sort of hoped it may be someone on the board as the car was wrecked a short time ago and has now made it to the UK think it was repaired by Estelius and sold on to a Uk trader.

Was kind of hoping someone had some pics of the damage.

we have already been told the front wheels rub, hardly surprizing as they are 20'inchers

Good gawd!!! I cant even think of a rapper who would have poorer taste than that. If it wasn't a salvage before the wheels were put on it, it damn sure is now. Can we PLEASE start requiring IQ tests before we sell Vipers to people?

Just read a couple of the related threads on Pistonheads and it certainly appears to be a bad deal somewhere along the line. If the car is really "OK" as reported by the current and last two owners, then Carfax is wrong, or the VIN doesn't go with that car. Another possibility is that the car was repaired acceptably (whatever that means to the new owner.)

Looks like I'm not the only one that noticed the camber on the LF.

It has 96 stripes that go thru the plate area and no badges on the rear or sides.

As Neil - UK posted, the car is listed as a 1997 and the VIN may verify that; HOWEVER, I believe the 1996 is the only year GTS that has the paint stripe going into the rear license plate insert. Not that it matters, but the repaint was incorrect, - correct me if I am wrong.
