Anyone know this '04 Mamba in Indiana?

Any Indiana owners recognize this car? Long shot - I know.

Looking to purchase this, but wanted to see if either of the first two owners was in this group. Given the identifable number (97/200) for this 04 Mamba Edition - I figured I'd try and see what happens. VIN ends in 102112.

And for anyone else who is interested in offering words of wisdom: Other than replacing the 20 year old tires on the car - are there any other expected repairs I should anticipate on making immediately? All I can discern from carfax is 2 batteries and routine oil changes have been done. I intend to take it to my local dodge which a close friend has taken his '08 Coupe to with great experiences.

Power steering and oil cooler lines are the other typical points to check on the gen 3s, otherwise they are pretty solid cars. Maybe shocks as well as I think more people are starting to see leaks on them with age, but mileage might have a lot to do with that as well.

Didn't the 04 and 05's have issues with an undersized bolt for the crank pulley?

I guess that would depend on what you mean by issue. My 04 had the smaller longer crank bolt for 125,000 miles with zero problems. I think some of the early early cars had torque issues where they just weren't installed correctly, but it's a fair point that it's worth checking at least. Easy enough "fix" to just make sure it's torqued to spec, maybe some medium threadlocker as well.

The crank damper bolt issue was real for potentially all 2004's. While on ANY Viper this bolt can loosen and cause crankshaft issues, this was a design issue that was eliminated in in 2005 by returning to the large diameter bolt that was torqued to 250 ft lbs instead of the rather punyv130 ft lbs torque initially used on the 2004's. It should be noted, that some claim to have found the smaller 2005 style bolt on some early 2005's, I have yet to find one myself. Again, we should all check this bolt periodically across all generations of Vipers.

The cam sprocket bolt torque occurred on the 2004 as well.

If your concerned about the Bolt, index the bolt to the pully with some paint. Every time you work on the car, look to see if the indexing marks are still aligned..
