Oooh, I'd steer clear of a salvaged car! It doesn't take a ton of damage to total a Viper, but it's not worth NEARLY as much with a bad title. Spend an extra 6 or 7 thousand and get a nice one.

I remember that there was a similar car (same color and model) being sold around September in California that matches this cars description. I do not have the VIN number from the car in September, but this sounds like it. I talked to the owner and he had the details on the repairs. I seem to remember that the car was being sold due to loss of employment and he had never planned to sell the car. The one thing of note the owner stated was that the frame had been straitened and at speeds over 100mph there was a vibration or maybe he stated a bump you could feel in the car.

It is a good idea to steer clear of these type of cars. If you are really interested in it I would suggest that you go and take a look at it. Once you are taking a lot at it take a spin in it. See how the car feels. Lastly what you have to do is bring it to a WELL KNOWN body shop or Viper dealer and have a full diagnostic test run on the car. This will be able to give you peace of mind. I know it sounds like a lot but if you are willing to do this it would save you a bunch of money. You do not want to have to make repairs on a car that you just bought. Also I would not pay the $44,000. If you are interested try to remain strict on your offer somewhere in the higher $30's.

The seller is in a bad situation. Not many people want this car because of it's title so that give you as the buyer a good opportunity to make an offer that he would accept.

Anyone know the condition and how bad of a wreck it was in? The price seems pretty descent for a 2000. How much damage to the front of a Viper would cause an insurance company to total the car? Thanks in advance!

The seller and I have emailed back and forth about five or six times. He gave me the same story about the fiancee situation. His original price was somewhere near $45k and he's lowered his reserve three times now. This is the second time I've seen it listed. I'm willing to give him $34k for the car just cuz I like the color and interior. Seems like a nice guy from the emails and claims it was only very lightly damaged, drives well and doesn't leak (water)...it rains here in FL quite hard in the summertime. His strategy is to list it and relist it on eBay until it gets sold. He knows how to get in touch with me if he can't move it.

I too have talked to the owner, and he seems nice and answers all questions asked. There was frame damage on this vehicle. All parts were repaired, nothing replaced. He stated he bought the car in October off of Ebay, so it must be the same car.... Being a Salvage Title Viper Owner I would say to at least give it a chance. Would be nice for a VCA member to check it out and give their opinion. Might be a great way to get in a Viper for thousands less!!
