I am going to repaint the dash black and was wanting to know if anybody has any suggestions or hints to help me? What color of black? Sanding old grey paint off? Hard to take dash off? ...

Hi Matt,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yet via email.

Here are pics of Rob McPhee's dash that I painted.
I used Organsol Black lacquer on it. That's the paint that Chrysler used on all the old Hi-Performace cars. It has a slight texture to it and a satin finish. It should be available at any automotive paint store (I use Ditzler/PPG).

I painted the gauge pods red on Rob's, my dash is solid black.

Rich I had the dash board covered with carbon fiber on my 1995 R/T.
It looked great. That one looks nice too.

How much did that cost to do? I have seen carbon fiber accent kits advertised. Are they tackey or do they look nice. Does anyone have pictures of a kit installed? Is there a good way to clean the dash or an early rt/10? I am afraid that I will scuff up the finish.

Thanks, Richc22.

Rich Detert, thanks again! I had try to find out whatever I could as quickly as I could because I've got a friend who is going to paint it for me tomorrow. I am painting my dash solid black, also.

I didn't do a kit. I had a guy remove it and completely cover it with a carbon covering. It's the kind you heat and it conforms to the surface.
I don't remember how much I paid it was a while ago, I think a couple hundred bucks?

Well, I removed my paint and have a CF kit. I'll e-mail you my pics.

To remove the paint, I used acetone (nail polish remover) and a wire brush. Took me a few hrs to do it right and calmly so that I didn't break the flimsy dash. Clean it up and have it painted satin black, it will look exactly like the other black in the interior of the car. Then I applied the CF kit that has 23 pieces and absolutely love it! Some people hate it like wings on a GTS, but to each his own, I like it and makes it look sharp. E-mail me if you have questions. I think JonB sells the CF kit, call him and see.
