The Hawker Odyssey is a great battery. I had one in my RX-7.
However, the Hawker Black Panther is supposed to be even nicer.
I have 2 of those in my truck. I think the Black Panther is
smaller than the Optima although the battery itself is expensive(I want to say $300 but I may be off). Has anyone looked at the Black Panter to see if it would fit in the Viper?

We will try and get some pics posted shortly. We have installes about a dozen kits so far, including my LETHAL 750. Works great!! Much more cranking amps than stock. Comes with a billet hold down.

Be weary of some of the dry cells you speak about. They have a tendancy to have a lower CCA output (even lower than stock) and are often overrated. I have used them in the past, and they worked OK, although I was surprised at how quickly the charge drained when the car was off if anything electrical was being used. We used to use Black Panther (no longer being made), and Odyssey (I don't think they are being made any more either; switched names a few times), but so far nothing has compared to the performance of the battery we use now.

You can e-mail me and I will reply with a pic of the kit we just installed last week in a customer's 2002 LETHAL 650 Viper.
Thanks!

You gotta ask yourself a question.Sure the stock battery pukes acid and you don't want it in your Viper. So do you really nead a dry cell at 3x the price of an Optima bought at autozone etc?I sleep better knowing that the optima in in there. If you need a dry cell to help you sleep better at night then by all means do it.I'm not really sure I needed an optima but I just had to have it.More money than brains?Yep I bought a Viper. Our experience has shown that the Optima battery does not clear the frame on most Vipers. Some have ground down the posts; thus voiding the battery's warranty. As I mentioned above, we have tried a few different types of dry cells. What we have found is that, in order to meet the minimum CCA requirements for the car, you need to get the largest/heaviest battery, and fitment can become a problem again. Case in point: Someone linked to the Odyssey site above. The only battery that meets the minimum requirements is the PC1700, and it weighs a whopping 60+lbs. In addition, our major supplier has stopped stocking many of these batteries due to defects/problems, and some of these companies going out of business. I feel confident we found the best solution out there: a lighter battery with more cranking amps, that is built to last, and fits in every Viper!!
Thanks!

I got the APEX battery before they had finished with the billet bracket kit, so I can't speak for the whole package, but the battery has worked flawlessly for me.
