I received a warning from the mods that my post have all been negative towards the gen V. I want to apologize if I have offended any of you. My intentions were and always will be to help others who are looking to purchase a car to help THEM GET THE BEST DEAL POSSIBLE. I like the gen v and do feel its the best viper ever offered. I will not comment or offer what I feel is a good price to buy on this form again. I really cant understand why with this being a form to tell others who are looking to buy a gen v , not to over pay , I took a lot of crap being one of the first gen III owners but i bought it at a great price and sold it at a profit with so many being way more negative about it then what you gen v owners are experiencing. I have been around here for years and always want to help a owner or future owner with the knowledge I have with the viper. That being said I am very sorry if I offended you, hurt your feelings and want you to know that was not my intentions. Guess its much better not to help and let others do their own homework.

Weren't you telling people that anything north of $80K was "paying too much" for a Gen 5? You cannot really 'over pay' on a car like the Viper - it's definitely a car that is justified in having a 6-figure price tag. Deals may happen for less, but you shouldn't be using the forum to suggest that a few isolated low-ball deals mean anyone paying above that figure is "paying too much". Anything between MSRP and MSRP - 10% is a reasonable, fair deal. If you're trying to get one for less then you should be looking at something else, like a Vette. Dodge/SRT really gets a lot of the blame here for doing such a lousy job promoting the Gen 5...but dealers letting them go at fire sale prices should not be authorized to sell Vipers in the future.

I am certain that people who can afford a $100,000 toy, are intelligent enough to do their own shopping. They don't need your advice, Google is free.

Wanted...sorry for your Wedgie that you were given from the Mods....It is really a shame when those that are in charge seem
to deem it necessary to control our thoughts on a forum. Sure keep it civil but to shut you down for expressing your opinion.
******, Stallen, and all the others give you a big Hell Ya for conforming maybe the mods will lead you to the bridge to jump off
with a T-Shirt that says.....VCA loves the Gen V, don't tread on it......

Oh come on Frank, ****** and Stalin references are a tad extreme. People here are sick of the "your car is worth 50K" crap. It's a Viper forum, so yes, owners are sick of hearing their cars are over priced and they paid too much. Someones "opinion" of how they all paid too helps who exactly? That's right, no one. I 'm sure that sentiment is very welcome at the Vette forums, but this is the Viper club...

Wanted- Thanks for the apology, we're sure you are well intended, no one has an issue with helping perspective owners finding a well-priced car, but "it'll be worth 50k in 2 months" is just not helpful.

Why would any G5 owner really care what others think about the price they paid?
My relatives think I'm crazy for having a G2....I couldn't care less what they think.

It's important to remember opinions are worth exactly 2 pennies....no reason to sweat it.

For the same reason that your wife cares if you say she is fat even if she is. Human nature. Just because you act some way hardly means that is normal. You bought a Gen 2. You could have bought a nice practical pick up truck or 4 door sedan with that money !!

In some places in the world, your opinion will get your head removed with a steak knife. Here you got an internet love tap on the wrist....

Nsane1...yes it was an over the top reference....but i might have got you thinking?? I understand what your saying about
all the nay sayers with your 50K crap...We are our own worse enemies, you can check any post here on this forum and most are
what do you think my car is worth, or how much would you pay for this viper ? I have not checked but i don't believe i have bashed the GEN5 just stated i would not purchase one not because it's not a great car, more along the lines that my interests have changed.

What would it take for me to purchase a new Viper ??? I don't know ? I do know i need to feel the same way i did when i purchased my 95 - 96 - Comp Coupe....Anything short of that will not cut it for me....(this is not negative)

Frank. You are older now; more experienced;and, have many racing miles under your belt. Would it be fair to say your skill set is so high that it would take quite a bit to get your juices flowing? If so, aren't you in the experince zone of those who could handle a Porsche 918 or a McClaren P1 at 10/10ths? Of course the 918 starts at 845K and the P1 starts at 1.15 million so the additional performance is not inexpensive.

Would a Gen V that has a twin turbo system with a parallel controller do the trick for you or is your choice limited to OEM cars with no mods?

Bob...Thank you for the kind words. My skill set is such that i prefer to Track, Test, Tune & Race in a High Performance Vehicle.
My check book will not allow me to purchase those type of cars. I have considered a continuation vehicle as you describe.
Let me just say...I can't keep my foot out of the right pedal on a street car. I've lost my license, many driver's points, high insurance...so
i stay on the track. I have cars sitting so i don't get tickets...

I've only modified Race Cars. I have not modified a street viper. So i guess i'm still in the 90's. Bare Bones, Big Motor, Lots of Horse Power, Mucho Torque, decent brakes.
Maybe this is why i have not sat in a GenV....Too much going on...Blue Tooth, IPAD Docks, Nav, All those Lights & Gagets...

Thank You Bob......I will find a GenV locally or find someone that will trust me enough at a HPDE (i'll pay for prep, tires, wheels, fuel)

Personally, I think WANTED was spot on with his 'comments.' Just think how the BS would be flowing if some poor sap came on here all amp'ed up stating he just picked up a GEN V for MSRP. We'd be all over him/her espousing what an idiot they were. Door swings both ways.
