Are Gen II and Gen III transmissions interchangeable?

Just wondering if the Gen II and Gen III transmissions are swappable? If so, then it shouldn't be too difficult to put an automatic transmission on a Gen II car. One could use the auto transmission used on the Ram trucks and bolt it to the Gen II motor right?

Is that an automatic or manual? I didn't see any torque converters.

just a question, but...............Why would you want an automatic transmission in a viper?

The only legitimate reason I can think of is if someone with a disability needed the auto.

Thats one reason. Another reason could be that they want to use the auto in a track car.

Gen2 and Gen3 are interchangable.....the question is: will the factory truck auto fit between the frame rails. Very possibly not without modifying the right frame rail.
