Are there 5,000 VCA members?

In one of Janni's post she put this number out- that's many more than I thought. I have run into a bunch of owners who have never heard of it, and many others that have decided not to re-up.

What is the official number of active members?

Why? I would think that the number is readily available. I just thought it was a little high considering that there were only 16,000 produced and many members own 2 or even 3 of them.

Anybody awake at the head office?

Given ~15,000 cars made, ~10% gone (and ~10% overseas), and many owners having more than 1, I'd say there are ~8,000 U.S. owners (~800 foreign owners), and much less than half that amount would be members, i.e., less than 4,000, even though new owners get a 1 year membership for free (many of those were previous owners, ones who weren't often likely let it lapse).
