I think Stranger 355 nailed it. With more Gallardos made than Vipers, what constitutes rarity has to be based on a comparison of similar items. Ferrari builds more cars than Viper does per year, along with Lamborghini, Porsche, Corvette, etc., so in comparison one would have to state we own a rare machine.

With 507 done in 2010, and fifty of those were race cars ( ACR-Xs ) , I think we would be hard pressed to find many other well known supercars in that league of 457 for the street.

Don't forget about how many of those total vipers produced have been wrecked and gone forever.

What kind of question is this anyway?
How often do you see any Viper - rarely if ever
You could answer that question For yourself in about 5 seconds of counting how many you have seen in your life driving around.
I know I've seen probably 10 times as many Ferrari's as Vipers before I bought mine of course. Now I see one about half as many times as I see a corvette, counting my own Viper that sits in my garage.

Are Vipers rare, no! I see one every day [in my garage:rolaugh:]
I call a car rare if it was produced in very low numbers. My friend has a Noble M400 that only one is in the entire country of Canada, to my knowledge. There are maybe a 100 in the US.
Actually there are quite few in my province of BC and I see them on the road occasionally.Friend has two of them but hardly ever takes them out because he has a lot of other toys.I take mine out frequently during the summer, and see other ones every second or third time out.Bunch of them sitting in new/used car dealerships as well.Gallardos are a dime a dozen, and Murcies are seen often too.Another rare car is my friend's 1989 Countach.
That turns heads anywhere.

Here's another rare car, a 1930 supercharged Austin7 Brookland racer, less than a dozen exists. In a similar time frame, the Viper will be as rare because of accidents to happen.;)

I guess it just depends on where you live. Several newer Vipers in my area along with two ACRs.

Funny - I thought Lambo's were rare until 2 showed up at my golf club. Here in Iowa, a Ferrari is still pretty rare and I would say I see more Vipers then Ferraris. Ford GT would be considered pretty rare - except there's a guy here in town with 3 that you see driving around quite a bit.

There's two other Gen 4s here in Lexington, but mine is the only ACR in the state I think (and definitely the only ACR Roadster).

As for seeing other ones out on the road, I see maybe one or two a year "in the wild", if you're not counting en-route to car shows or meets.

How would you know if you are the only ACR in the state?
That seems unlikely. I know of at least seven of them in our immediate area alone.

Just a hunch. I go to a lot of car shows, cruises, and other various car things, and if there's another one in the state, I've never seen it. Kentucky doesn't seem too big on Vipers in general, much less ACRs.

I would love to be proven wrong, though.

It's the only one that I am 100% sure of. Two years ago a black ACR with a drivers stripe was spotted by a friend in Louisville (I have the spy photo). It hasn't been seen since.

We do have 2 Aero coupes that I am aware of.

It's possible that more could be hiding in a garage somewhere, just haven't heard of any so far.

Is there any count on how many Vipers are gone for good due to being totaled..............any guesses?

Usually about 4-5 Vipers on Salavage titles on EBAY at any given time. The number of totaled Vipers compared to the number made has to be pretty high. An ameatur driver behind the wheel of a Viper is a bad combo.

Vipers are definitely rare but in big cities aren't jaw droppers like they used to be. Dodge began to "over produce" the viper. They should have never made more than 750/year. Values would be higher, the car would turn more heads, and there wouldn't be hundreds of new 09 and 10 sitting around for sale.

Viper sightings are rare in my area. Half the vipers sold from local dodge dealer since 2006 have been totalled. I go weeks without seeing another one. I take mine to work 2-3 days a week, but such useage seems to be unusual around here.
