I get my alignment on 3/7 and I am ready to go. Is it the all-day wait at Turner Field? I will even do that!

Any of you guys want a spankin  ? Ryan ? Tom ? Chris ? Achilles ? Pete (yea right)

Chris and I went to an auto-x in Birmingham yesterday, where he promptly whooped up and got 1st place over a Z06 and Porsche. I, on the other hand, had a mental block and hit the same cone on 3 out of 4 runs. Or was it because I had 2.5 hours of sleep the night before?

So, we probably won't be able to make a consecutive auto-x weekend (translation - our significant others might not be too happy about that).

HOWEVER, Chris, Ryan and I are definitely planning on making the Middle GA event on March 16th. I enjoy those events better compared to the Atlanta events. You get 6 runs instead of 4, the wait is a LOT less, and you usually get 5-10 fun runs at the end of the day. Slowest Viper buys lunch (translation: Ryan), and a few Z06's will be there, too. I'm hoping that Tony brings his Viper this time... no fair beating us in the 911 :)

Tony - Are you definitely planning on being there for the Atlanta event?

Hmmm, if Tony and Tom go, I might have to try and go, too. For this weekend's event, I know that Vipers (SS Super Stock class) are in the first run group, so we should TECHNICALLY be done around noon. However, if a problem arises in timing or whatnot, it could be 1:00 or 2:00 before getting out.

Achilles, you can go Auto X but not SCCA racing, Whats up with that. We had a killer weekend @ road atlanta. Mixing it up with all the Miata's & RX &'s . Had 2 awesome races. Dr Jimmy picked up the 2 of the new SRT 4's & we generated quite the buzz in the paddock. Im kind of old to be a ricer!

Okay this when the smack talk ends and the WHOOOOOPIN begins. MARCH 16th we will gather at a meeting place IN ATLANTA and roll on to the auto x To the south. I think it will be a few vipers and zo6's that will be in for some fun. All you want to be real racers can come auto x and not hurt your baby. Spin too win!

Lunch is on slow boy LINH if I have any say in it. BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!

Linh, I just found out about 3/9 last night and now 3/16. I would like to do both but may have to pick only one. I will probably bring the Viper (lets eat cheap...I'm out of $$$)
Does Macon have a web site or what time would we leave Atlanta ?

THE AUTOCROSS IS THE 9TH...SUNDAY not the 8th and for some reason it says my time to edit my first post has expired. sorry.

It looks like AS and ASP are in the afternoon group at Atlanta so we wouldn't have to arrive until 11:30 and we would be in the first afternoon group.

Pick March 16th! It's my birthday that day, and I'm still going. What better way to spend it (don't ask my girlfriend that question)?

As for the auto-x in Atlanta, most Vipers will fit in SS class, that runs first group in the morning. Since none of us will probably compete in the entire season, a few of us can just run in the "time-only" category so that we can all run either in the morning or afternoon session. However, I think I'm going to skip the Atlanta event and run the Middle GA (Macon) event:

I think Chris and I left at 8:00 am and were fine... first car isn't off until noon. We should pick a meeting spot convenient to everyone... somewhere in the middle of the city, I guess? Chris and I live in Buckhead, Ryan up North on 75... what would be best for everyone?

I heard about the SRT 4's... awesome! The review on Speed Channel had nothing but good things to say about it.

I would have LOVED to be racing the event at RA this weekend, but I'm not cleared to race (just had surgery). So, auto-x is fun and better than not racing at all!

I am up for it on the 16th! I had a great time at the Birmingham event yesterday and having more Vipers there will be awesome for the 16th.
Ryan -- bring your Pilot Sports to keep it fair!
As far as this weekend at Turner Field goes, I won't be going. I am just so sick of the long waits and few runs that 200 cars gives you! Middle Georgia and Birmingham are much better.
When we get closer to the 16th we'll pick a meeting point and head on down there together.

Chris, Congrats on your win in Al.

Linh, SS class...duh. What class would I be in with the s/c ? Is there a prepared class for ss ?

I have no idea... the class specifications for SCCA are a mystery to me sometimes. I know that the ACR is in AS or ASP, because of smooth tubes (ie, if I put smooth tube on, I would no longer be in SS). I'm guessing that with a S/C, you would definitely not qualify for SS :)

It's interesting... I think the Viper was not allowed in SS for a year. Rumor was that the Vettes were getting beaten so badly, that the Viper was "reclassified" :) However, with the advent of the Z06, the tables were reversed yet again. Even though the Viper had better slalom and skidpad ratings, the Z06 STILL reigned supreme on the Solo II circuit. Coincidentally, the Viper was then allowed back in SS. Maybe Chris GTS can elaborate... he's been autocrossing for several years, with both a Z06 and Viper. It's our duty to show the V8's that the V10 is better... both on the road course and auto-x course. Why limit our bragging rights :)

Tony, I don't know what class you would be in -- I'd advise emailing the Solo II chair for whatever region you will be participating in to find out. I am absolutely sure you could not be in SS.
Responding to Linh's description of the history of Vipers in SS, I am not an expert, but I think that 2002 was the first year they let the non-ACR Vipers back into the SS category. ACR's still have to be in ASP (no pun intended) because of the smooth tubes and maybe the suspension stuff on them.
FWIW, I have autocrossed a Z06 and my Viper and I am convinced that the Viper is the better autocross car, at least for me. Of course, if I had Tony's magic 911, I could be even faster ...
I hope lots of VCA people can make it to the Middle Georgia event on 3/16. They are fun events with lots of runs, very little waiting time and a decent driving surface.

I have just cancelled my trip to Sebring. No VCA tent or Viper corral. I am going to the middle GA autocross on the 16th. This will be my first autocross and I plan on being the slowest Viper, but I will get better. How is that for smack talk.

So where is this going to be? Maybe I will make a trip out.
Hey Adam,
There is a LS1/mustang shootout in Montgomery on the 8th of March, and it looks like I will be the only viper showing. How about coming down to give a better show for the Viper? There is suppose to be 200 cars showing and a dyno is arranged.

Hey Tony,
The person that set up this day said he had emailed the TN/AL club to see if they would want to join the fun, but got no response. That would probably be why.
