I thought I'd pass this on: A letter from DC:

Dear Participating Viper Reservation Certificate Dodge Dealers,

With the launch of the 2003 Viper well under way and our customers taking delivery of their vehicles, we wanted to take this opportunity to review the guidelines of the Reservation Certificate program to ensure the integrity of the program through it's completion.

Please remember, the Viper Reservation Certificate is NON-TRANSFERABLE and, in fairness to all Dealers, we WILL be taking ACTIONS to assure full compliance.

The following guidelines are provided for your information:

Viper Headquarters is contacting ALL customers with Certificates to confirm the Certificate system is being handled properly. If the customer declines the purchase of a new Viper, the vehicle WILL NOT be shipped and will be reallocated accordingly. Customers CANNOT sell, GIVE away, or TRADE their Certificates to others!

Dealers must retain copies of the Certificate and the Certificate holder's driver's license in their deal jackets.

If a customer decides, after the vehicle is delivered to the Dealership, that they no longer want to take delivery, you, as the selling Dealer, MUST contact your Business Center to discuss the options for that vehicle.

If Vipers are INTENTIONALLY and SYSTEMATICALLY being sold to NON-VIPER Reservation Certificate holders without the consent of the selling Dealership's Business Center, the selling Dealership WILL BE subject to future DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS as determined by the Sales Operations Group!

As always, we thank you for your continued effort and commitment to ensuring the success of this Program.

Should you have any questions regarding this program. please contact Viper Headquarters.

VP Dodge Marketing

"On a closing note, I have had a few Dealers call me and ask if I want sell them some of the Vipers that I have on order to them. I said NO! They said, when the SRT gets to your Store, the Title is in the Dealership's name, you can do what you want with it. When I told them what I sold the 03's for [2% over invoice] I was called, "What are you, an IDIOT!", "That was STUPID on your part!", "You could get $10,000 over Sticker!", "What, are you out of your mind?"
To the Dealers that called me: I have Viper Customers and you don't!! :p "

I am glad to hear this. I see so many of those Exotic dealers selling the SRT for a ton of money. This is unfair to the certificate holders.

DC and Chuck are doing it right.

DC did weigh in.

When going through our mess, "The new owner will not honor the deal." with Alexander Dodge (you should avoid these folks) they abruptly, but grudgingly, did an about face. I hope DC was part of the reason and it may have precipiated this letter.

Chuck, thanks for the post.
