Yeah I've tweaked around with a couple of positions. I installed a hard mount for the lipstick on the passenger side hatch glass pivot; it gets all of the interior and is stable as heck, and the camera sits just behind where the passenger's head would be. Only problem I have is that during the day the automatic gain on the cam makes the exposure so the inside is great but the outside is washed out. At night it's perfect though.
In the video I posted I have the camera suction-mounted to the front part of the rear hatch glass. The part of the car you see is the roof (you can't see the hood). If I got the camera up a few more inches you would see the hood, etc, but the mount I have doesn't stretch that far, and I kinda like it as it is anyway. Very stable, etc.
And I agree, the video does nothing for how violent it is to actually be in the car. I give rides to people sometimes and they are just stunned at the grip and grunt.
Even with the mic inside the car I still had to put a ton of foam around it to cut through the wind/car noise. Turned out pretty well, but I still haven't been able to completely eliminate the electrical noise rising and falling with RPM.
