Hmmm, I 'm having a clunk, right rear, cant find it either, yet. Wwe tightened everything that can be tightened, still clunks. Big mystery to me. Let us know if you find your problem, and I'll do the same.

When I got my 02 ACR -- it had a terrible clunking in the rear. It turned out that the rearend differential needed friction modifier added to it. I did and the clunk went right away. I don't know if that's what you're hearing.

Friction Modifier ( or maybe reducer ) is a 3 oz. bottle of fluid you put in the rear differential that I got from Chrysler and it completely stopped the noise I was getting from my rear differential. Apparently it was not put in at the time of assembly.

Actually...Mopar's "limited Slip Additive Friction Modifier" is a 4 oz. bottle...part number 04318060AB...that is addided to the differential along with approx. 40 oz of Mopar's "Synthetic Gear & Axle Lubricant 75W-140"...part number 04874469.

Guess WHAT...

I get it too, it sounds like a set of bad shocks, but the car handles like a dream, it makes some FUNNY knocking noise, like the back glass hatch is lose, but its not. It sounds like it might be an ACR thing, or an 01/02 thing. I wonder who we should contact to get it fixed, my VIPER tech was suprised by the sound, but I wouldnt let him touch the car.... this is a little interesting that a few of us have that going on.

PS. IT IS NOT THE DIFF. BECASUE I RECENTLY REPLACED MY COMPLETE FLUIDS IN DIFF AND TRANNY, AND ADDED THE 4 OZ OF FRICTION MODIFIER AS STATED. Still got the sound !!

It's been known for a while that some ACR's had a clunking sound coming from the suspension. If you do a search, you might find some old discussions on the subject. I believe Chuck Tator (The Wizard) was able to find a fix.

Edit: I believe DC is aware of the noise and they offered a fix. (Not sure if they still offer it). If I recall correctly, the fix was to swap out the shocks to the GTS shock setup, which was not a popular option.

Double Edit: Found a link to the old post: Link to ACR Rattling
