I read somewhere here there was a place under the hood a tender could be hooked up and now I can't find it. Is there anyone who could tell me where that connection is.
Thanks for any help.

For which generation (Gen. I/II or Gen. III/IV)? Assuming you're asking about a Gen. III/IV hookup since this is the SRT-10 forum. If that's the case, you hook the positive lead ring terminal directly to the positive battery terminal post and the negative lead ring terminal to ground (there's a screw near the battery on the frame). You then simply make the quick connect/disconnect through the rear fascia. Hence, no need to open the hood.

I used to just plug a Battery Tender in the cig lighter on my GTS. I have not tried it on my 08 and would like to see if it is ok to do that on an 08.

Flexx91, as the battery is in the trunk on a Gen III and IV...I connect the negative lead to the bleeder on top of the thermostat (which looks like a standard brake bleeder) on the left side of the engine (within a foot of the red plastic shielded positive terminal).

I use the exposed bare-metal instrument panel support

That's how we do it in our 2008 (not cig. lighter, but inside center console outlet). Works great....juli

I assume you have to leave the window down for the cord or how is this done? Also, how long can your 08 sit and still start without the use of the tender? Thanks.

Car is covered, but yes, window is down part-way. Well, we noticed the car couldn't sit too long without the battery tender...can't say exactly HOW long, but we went a few weeks without starting it up, and it needed charging. ~juli
We WERE hoping to take the cars OFF their chargers and DRIVE THEM...no luck...:(.
18 degrees today, and ice still on driveway after a month, too thick to break thru. ugh

Steve,

The battery is not in the trunk. It is top-accessed and removed through the trunk. My hookup makes it easy to connect and disconnect a Battery Tender without opening the hood or even opening the trunk and removing the battery access cover. It is basically a pigtail quick disconnect coming off the positive battery terminal.

I did mine the same way, through the back end on a quick connected to the battery in the truck.

The reason that I stick with the approach through the engine bay is that the tender placement is fully visible from the driver's seat and helps us avoid the possibility of taking off with a remote wire still attached. :)

It is also easy to do while I am getting Vipers "pre-flighted" (checking oil, P/S caps, coolant, etc.) and taking them off of lifts, skates, and the like.

:confused::confused::confused: :rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh: TRUNK maybe? lol
We have no problems remembering the battery is on the tender, as the car is covered up anyway. Easiest just to plug it in the center console for us, everybody has their preferred method! :2tu: ~juli

Thanks guys, what a great forum. I had an extra tender and hooked it up thru the panel in the rear, now I'm good to go.
