We would have 15 or more Viper's in the shop and people would flock to this car. I hate to see her go, but I knew it had to happen one day. If anyone remembers the 66 Shelby GT350 in our shop, she will be a thing of the past on Tuesday.

Larry,

I have a guy that wants to trade a 69 GT350 with 18k original miles in towards my 996 Turbo. Any ideas of the value ?

I do have some PICs of the car somewhere and will post them when I get a moment. Speaking of that, I wish I took more PICs of all the awesome cars in the past. The asking price for the car was $73,000.00, although it went for just shy of that amount. Would I trade my Porsche 996TT for this car in particular. Not a chance, Jeff. This car had all of the Shelby options and was fully restored in 1982, but wasn't a 90+ car. I was very surprised the car sold for the amount it did, although one doesn't know what the future holds. The new owner is from Tampa, John, so we may well see her again. This car would have looked out of place in your stable, Jim, it's red with white stripes. But, she definitely would have made a nice addition!

Is it going back to Japan? I thought you were gonna give that Shelby to my wife?

Yeah, if someone would give my wife a Shelby for it, I'd be okay with her doing whatever it takes...LOL

The Mustang that is talked about in this post is behind the Vette and is a similar color to it.

I thought all '66's were Wimbledon white with blue stripes?

VIPERRAY,

NO No! I had a '66 GT 350H(Hertz) car, 1,002 made. Mine was a rare color combo but there are several combo's in '66. Mine was white w/gold stripes. You get get blu.whi,whi./blu., red./whi., blk./gld, red/gld., blu./gld.,etc...

As far as trading a newer Porsche for a classic Shelby. ABSOLUTELY! I sold my Shelby about 2 years ago. If I would have sold it today I would have made at least $20k more. The Shelby's market is booming. With the rumors from Ford that Shelby is creating another GT350 and GT500 Shelby Mustang for the new body style and the fact that Carroll Shelby is in poor health. They are destined to go up in value even more when he passes.

Take the trade and when the Porsche gets 15-20 years old or so buy you another Porsche at bottom $. My .02 cents.

Tell him to contact me if he is interested in a trade for my Viper.

Thanks, Ward! I didn't realize you had PICs of the Vette. The 427 Coupe was a nice car and it sold quickly. For the life of me, I can't figure out how racers were able to push those cars to the limit with such ill handling tires. It must have been beyond comprehension.
We did a boat load of work on their stable; Vette, Shelby, Jag, Porsche 930, Ferrari 275, Isso Griffo and a few others. The owner of these fine cars just purchased (2) Lotus Elise's and I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Good advice from a guy that knows classic cars! I think I remember Mike telling me he wished he never sold his Shelby.

Larry,

I have a guy that wants to trade a 69 GT350 with 18k original miles in towards my 996 Turbo. Any ideas of the value ?

The 1969 GT-350 is the 351 Windsor engined Shelby. I recently turned down $25K for my 1969 Mach I with the 351W engine and all available factory options..except tilt steering and intermitent wipers. I am the second owner of this original California car.... 80,000 original miles.

Depending on color, condition and factory options.... the 1969 GT-350 could be worth as much as $50,000. Keep in mind that 1969 Shelby's were not race cars, so it would not have any race history... probably no other particular provenance to increase it's value.

Now if it was the GT-500 with the 428 SCJ Drag Pak options..... it could be worth upwards of $75,000.

I'd still trade for the Porsche, the Porsche is still depreciating, unlike the Shelby... although the market could turn again at any time. Remember the late 1980's?????

I'd be curious to know what color the GT-350 is.. what color interior? Is it restored, or is it a "survivor"?
