I dropped in on a customer yesterday in Honolulu. He's the
service manager at the BMW dealership. He gave me a tour of
their new, absolutley compliant operation. Amazing ! Everything
a true gear head could EVER dream of including a real time computer link with a BMW Tech Think Tank. The floor of the shop
was so clean it squeeked when you walked on it. His final treat was showing off a new Z8. An absolutley beautiful car, 400 HP,
six speed manual transmission, open roadster. Sound like any-
thing familiar ? The BMW sure is fancy, graced with lot's of what I guess is titanium on the inside (I guess that's the wave
of the future, check out the '03 Viper). $200,000 will get one,
or 2 1/2 '03's.

My impression is the car is overrated and overpriced.

Not that I would not want to own one, drive one, or that I don't think its a great car. Just that its in a position for BMW to show off what they can build, not what they can produce.

I don't agree with Vreracing. It is a car that is superbly refined, all the materials are top quality, technology is super advanced, all the doors and pannels close evenly and have the same gap. The craftsmanship in this car is to envy, but of course you cannot compare European horses to American horses, they are two different phylosofies. European focuses more on a well rounded car that can take anything that is thrown at it, while the American focuses more on the 1/4 mile aspect. Neither are bad, let me clear that up. Just two different schools of thought.

The Z8 is a bit over priced, but you pay for the quality and technology behind it. It is an all hardened-aluminium chasis with a V-8 that puts out 400 HP and can be modified (see the racing dynamics site for the info)

I love the Z8 and the Viper, it's like having two different women. (Sorry ladies, making a point). They all have their pros and cons. I love them both.
