BOBBY ARCHER WINS CHARITY LEGENDS RACE AT TMS
Bobby Archer put his “legendary” driving skills on display over the weekend by winning a Legends car race at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) in Ft. Worth, Texas. The race was sponsored by Speedway Charities for the local Campfire Kids program and was billed as an all-star race for local hot shoes. Entrants for the race included a Legends car instructor, a local NASCAR truck racer (David Star), and IRL driver Greg Ray. When Ray couldn’t make the race at the last minute, Archer was asked to drive. Archer, who had never before driven a Legends car, had eight laps to practice on the tiny asphalt oval and promptly qualified himself in the second row for the start of the race. At the green flag, Archer passed two cars and, by the exit of the second corner, was in the lead of the race for good. Apparently, a little judicious use of the ‘ol chrome horn by Archer aided his move to the front… Archer found the Legends car to be a lot of fun to drive and said it accelerated out of the corners remarkably well. “Winning a race is always a great feeling, but it is especially satisfying when you know all of the money raised here tonight is going to such a good cause”, said Archer after the race. After this brief foray into a Legends car, Archer resumes his SCCA T1 National Championship drive in his No. 32 SuperClubs/ViperSpeed Viper this weekend in Hallet, OK.
