I'm looking to order some brake and clutch fluid, and wanted some input on what to get and how much to order. From past commentary, Castrol SRF seems the best and the most expensive, then AP600, then Motul600. AP apparently is not good for the clutch according to their website. I wasn't sure if I wanted to use different fluids for each (seems like trouble to remember). Also I did not want to order too much and have it go bad sitting around (don't mind some extra for a poorman's bleed on the clutch though).

PartsRack will place a CASE of 12 Motul-600 RBF, good in brake or clutch, on your door for about $130. Share with a friend.

Guys with "spare" Motul-600 at track events are VIPs !!!

Mopar " brake and clutch fluid ...motor vehicle D.O.T 4" is what our tech uses for brakes/clutch in street machines. Cost is around $4.00 per pint, by my memory.

slaughterj, Don't know if you track the car a lot, if so then go with the fluid changes, otherwise, 5 years is a.o.k on the fluids.....

Steve, you might want to rethink that. I wouldn't recommend 5 years for any fluids in any car, much less a Viper!! Fluid changes, particularly brake fluid, is cheap insurance...

Seems like cheap insurance to change the brake and clutch fluid earlier than recommended, but , I'm guessing it is a waste to spend the high price for motul if your not racing. Seems like overkill, what does the factory use anyhow.

TOO MANY "Steve's" ...I agree with Henry...we change brake fluid MUCH more frequently in our "street Vipers" than every 5 years...generally every 2 years OR if fluid starts to turn brown. The reason that I personally caution "casual drivers" about using Motul 600 or Castrol SRF in their cars is that these "performance" brake fluids ARE NOT meant to be long term fluids...they are purpose formulated to withstand high heat, and NOT meant to be left in over time (as per directions on Castrol SRF...max time is 18 months". No such thing as maintenance free fluids as some folks apparently assume. Many racers change brake fluid after EACH major track session. One needs to remember that ALL the Viper's fluids have general recommendations concerning the change frequency...all needing to be adjusted by time, driving conditions, climate, milage, and "physical condition" of fluid itself. If brake or power steering fluid looks brown or black, or smells "burnt"...CHANGE THEM. There was a great post here many months ago from one of the Desert Venom Team outlining their fluid schedules...WORTH READING!!!

Follow the manual unless you track the car. Do you change the brake fluid in your daily driver every 2 years, I don't think so. Do you stop a lot harder in your snake than your daily driver? Most of us, the answer would be no considering our brakes are pretty bad to begin with in the first place. I'm harder on my daily driver's brakes than my snake..... 5 years.
