I bought this Mityvac system and have used it for a few things but this was my first at using it on the brakes to flush. So here is my question, is it normal to see it drawing brake fliud out slowly while getting air from around the bleeder screw? The instructions says it is but I want to be sure there is no air at the calipers at all. I closed each bleeder while it was drawing out new fluid. In past I just bled the brakes old school with son in the driver seat. Anyway I havnt taken the car out to test brakes because its raining. They seem tight and normal upon starting car and rolling back and forth in the garage. So anyone who bleeds with these vacum systems please advise. :eater:

Thanks

Good to know just picked one of those up and I'll be using it soon

As it was mentioned above it is a slow process so just be patient and don't try anything to speed up that process like bleeding the brakes old school when the mityvac is doing it's thing.

Funny, I was bleeding my brakes yesterday for the first time with my new Mityvac and I noticed the bubbles as well. I was going to post the same question until I logged on and saw this thread at the top. Thanks!

FYI - I made a larger catch trap with a quart Mason jar and a couple of fittings that I attached through the lid. I just pumped the Mityvac several times and I could completely bleed each caliper half in one go. Also, by leaving a little vacuum in the system it would automatically **** in all of the brake fluid left in the tubing without dripping any when I pulled it off of the caliper.

Mityvac works, I have one that I now use to bleed the clutch fluid.

Motive makes good stuff too, I use their bleeder bottles.

Speed Bleeders are way quicker and easier.

I bleed the brakes in my ACRs (01 and now 09) every other track event.

You guys should check these out, you can do it very quickly by yourself.

You were able to get this type to seal?

I got the Motive and couldn't get a good seal with it on my '97. Finally bled the old fashion way with the wife pushing the pedal.

I made a rubber gasket for the cap myself...now seals. Motive sent me two different one and both leaked. We have used on our race car for 4 year as well as street cars-works great!

Same experience with two different caps from Motiv. The universal one leaked all over. I got a brass one from JonB that didn't fit my '01 either.
