Brake lights are not working when air bag is disabled ?!

I have a strange issue on my 06 Coupe.

1. When my Viper is stopped the brake lights are working perfectly.
2. When in 1st gear and still stopped brake lights are working.

3. When advancing 1ft and still in 1st gear: brake lights are NOT working. The lights come up for half second and go out right away and never work again until in 1st gear.

4. If I shift out from 1st gear, brake lights are working again ...

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ?!?!

Is this a PCM issue ?

PCM has very little to do with brake lights...

I'd check your brake switch... and the wiring going to it... it could be getting tangled with the clutch pedal or something else on the pedal sled if the "edge-biter" clips weren't seated properly.

The brake wiring is very simple... it comes from the fusebox, to the brake switch at the pedal, and then goes to the three tail-lamps. There is a run to the ABS module as well but that is a voltage sense for it's computer. The PCM sense is done on a totally different contact within the brake switch. (There are actually three separate switches within the brake switch unit).

It took me 2 days to figure out what is the problem.
If you disable the driver's airbag for some good reason the PCM will prevent the brake lights from working .... !!!

It is not a switch issue but some hidden feature in the 2006 PCM.

I was stunned to see that if the Viper advances even just 1ft the brake lights will not work if the airbag is disabled.
