I just changed over from RE71's to Pilot Sports. The Sports feel so much softer and stickier I can't believe it! They also look a LOT better (IMO) due to the lip on the tire that protects the rim. I have 285 front and 335/35 rear, which fit on the stock 3-spoke rim, as well as the 5-spoke 17" rims (which I have). Unsure why you'd want the higher profile "40" in the rear....
I believe that Rich at Performance House in Redwood City, CA has RE71's for sale, if you really want them. His number is 650-364-6234

Kumho-the best tires you can buy in a 17.

Cheap, will improve handling dramatically, and are available in your sizes. 285's or 295's on the factory 10" is fine, the bigger the better. In the rear I think they only make a 335, but it is a night and day improvement over anything else on the market for performance. You will think your Viper became a slot car after you get them.
