I have some basic questions about the BTR two-stage NGP setup, specifically:

1. How much does it cost to install this system?

2. In a GTS, I assume the nitrous/propane bottles are mounted in the rear area beneath the hatch. Does someone offer some sort of cover to conceal them? Can the entire system be removed without leaving holes in the carpet, etc. showing it was there?

3. Can the two-stage NGP system be installed on a stock 01 GTS without significantly affecting reliability?

4. How is the system activated? Is there a master on/off switch and a WOT switch or what? I am a neophyte when it comes to nitrous, so can someone explain how many different switches are involved and how they work?

I sent these questions to Tom Welch's e-mail address a few days ago but haven't heard back, so I thought I would try them here. Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Ronnie,

1) $0 if you install it-I'd say most shops would spend AT Least a full day.
2)Yes, Yes, Yes -sorta(hole for N2O/propane lines)
3)Yes, unless you do something wrong.
4) Just a N2O activation toggle switch in cabin, heater switch at bottle. Electronic wot TPS switch(NOS kit)under hood.

I would suggest starting w/just the NOS /Propane & upgrading
later if the need arises...the NGP 2stage would be a lot of systems to add at once not to mention the power/safety management...

Thanks Tom. What kind of rwhp/rwtq numbers would the basic NGP system make on an '01 GTS with tubes/filters and rear muffler delete, and how much more rwhp/rwtq would the two-stage system make?

For future reference, does the e-mail address in your profile work, or should I stick to the phone and this forum?

Ronnie,

Please see actual dyno sheets for similar cars to yours at my website under performance results.

What rwhp did your car make as is? All vipers are seemingly different and I cant quote what your car will make. Expect between 580-630 rwhp.

Two more questions. In some other discussions about nitrous, I've seen people refer to adding an RPM window switch to their setup. What is this, and why would you need it if you have the WOT switch?

How big an issue is traction with the kind of numbers you're talking about--will the stock Michelins break loose at WOT at anything under 30 mph, or what? Thanks.

Hello Ronnie,

Here are your answers.

1) We charge $ 500.00 for an install and include filling the bottles.

2) Both bottles mount in the trunk. You can purchase a cargo cover to conceal the bottles. We are currently out of stock on cargo covers.

3) The NGP system will not affect reliability of your Viper in any way. These kits are very conservative in a/f numbers and work well with the cast piston motors.

4) The arming and activation of the system requires a two position toggle switch(arming) and a computerized WOT(wide open throttle)switch for engage and disengage of the system. Both of these devices are included in the kit.

Please feel free to review the systems on our website and take a look at the FAQ's. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact me or use this forum at your convience.

RedGTS I have BTR one stage nitrous/propane system and it works just fine. Mine made 582 rwhp with nitrous and 436 w/o about 150 rwhp gain. Traction in first is at the very limit of stock pilot sports. If there is a good weight transfer BEFORE nitrous is activated then there is not much wheel spin. But it seems to be about 50-50 if there is going to be wild wheel spinning or not. Stabbing the throttle at 30MPH = instant spinning (not recommended) Normally your not going to activate the nitrous below 25MPH. I have some Kumhos (rear tires) on the way, which claim to be sticker than sports. I'll report my finding when they arrive.

Bottom line -> the one stage system makes more than enough power for street use and the system works great! I don't have the NGP system just the nitrous/propane.

BTW a RPM window switch is not needed but I highly recommend it. It stops you from doing stupid things like hitting the rev limiter while spraying or activating the nitrous at 1,000 RPM in 6th gear. Either of which can POSSIBLY kill your motor.

Window switch users - please answer the following:

The best times with NOS are posted finishing the 1/4 in fourth gear, doesn't the window switch interfere?
