Hello,
This post is to inform everyone(due to calls and emails from potential customers) of what we expect to have available at VOI for the Drag Races and possibly the road courses. We understand that there will be many new items available for viewing at VOI and we want to start early so that everyone is well informed of what we expect to have on hand. The two vehicles(Vipers) below will be equipped exactly as stated unless unforseen circumstances change the modifications over the next month. We do not expect any changes and will let everyone know should a specification change occur.

Vehicle # 1

1997 GTS BTR 750 "Plus" and is equipped as follows;

BTR Belangers headers and exhaust(no Cats)
BTR Stage III cylinder head upgrade
BTR Hydraulic Roller Nitrous Camshaft
BTR Two Stage NOS/Propane/Gasoline Injection
K & N Airbox/Filters
BTR Roll Bar with Sidebar and 5 Way harness sets
Purner wheels and tires/stock pilots
BTR Billet Pistol Grip Shifter
BTR Severe Duty Half Shafts

This vehicle is stock 488 C.I. bottom end, stock clutch and flywheel, stock gearing, stock suspension and brakes.

Vehicle # 2

1997 Viper GTS BTR 950 Stroker "Plus" and will be equipped as follows;

BTR 550 C.I. STROKER Engine Upgrade(details available at VOI)
BTR Belanger Headers and Cat-Back(no cats)
BTR NOS/Propane/Gasoline Injection System
BTR Roll Bar with removable sidebar and 5 way harnesses
BTR Severe Duty Half Shafts
Purner Wheels and tires/stock wheels and pilots

This vehicle will have a 550 C.I. V-10 Engine, stock transmission, clutch and flywheel, stock gearing and suspension. Upgraded brakes.

We will have flyers available for both vehicles and their prospective packages and pricing breakdown for both. We of course will have dyno pull data for both vehicles as well as dragstrip data optained during the VOI event.

Pricing is not finalized for the 550 C.I. Stroker as of yet, but we expect to be more than competitive.

Thanks for reading,

Peanuts,

We hope to have time to make a few runs before VOI with the stroker engine, but just not sure as of yet. We will be testing nitrous on it, and will have conservative air/fuel ratios for that combination.

Stroker engines do not like RPM's. One of the advantages to nitrous oxide and propane is that the RPM band moves down almost 1,000 rpms. We expect to make peak power at or below 4800 rpms (on spray) with this engine which will greatly enhance its survival potential. Based on our experience with stroker hemi and wedge engines in the past, I have no reason to believe that this engine will not last as long as any V-8 of similar cubic inches(most of the rotating assembly of a Viper Stroker Engine is taken from Chevy size parts..but no one wants to tell folks that)

Of course, we will keep everyone updated, but we are going to give it as much spray as we can, without encountering detonation. Contrary to the beliefs of most, nitrous itself has NEVER hurt any engine and horsepower is horsepower. The stress on engine internals is no greater on a nitrous engine than an engine of any means of making similar power. A mis-matched combination or detonation caused by insufficient fuel delivery or too much timing advance is what causes nitrous engines to fail. In a nutshell, this engine will use less nitrous to make 800+ RWHP than a mildly modified engine would to achieve the same power level.

Thanks for the questions and comments.

Great post TOM!

Get ready for the biggest Smackfest of All Time!

Tuners: you will regret if you miss this opportunity to show your customers or future customers what you have to offer them in a forum for all to see.
Looking forward to Vipers from TNT, Dan Cragin, Levin, BTR, House of Speed and Racing Solutions and many more!

Dyno Sheets are great and we can all talk about how much horsepower we have this week but laying it down at the track for all to see is what it is all about! I promise that we can all sit around after all is said and done and compare Dyno Sheets like Supra owners

I'm really looking forward to the racing as well. With all the developments in Viper strokers / nos / supercharging over the past 12 months, there should be plenty of fast racing (and plenty of broken parts) to make for a great day at the track!

In true keyboard racer fashion, I'll be posting real-time results from trackside on race day, so stay tuned on 9/25 for all the news on the fast, the slow, and the DNF
